I went to go get some dress shoes today. I hate that one of my feet are like...half a size smaller than the other. It isn't so bad with tennis shoes but dress shoes are a whole different story.

My feet are the same size, but they are small and wide. Small but wide female dress shoes do not exist. They are all very narrow and pinchy in the front. Ialways have to size up, and then I get rub spots on my heels >:(

I know! I also strongly prefer wide shoes but can never find them.

The fact that I never know how I'm going to react to caffeine because sometimes my migraine med makes the caffeine effects worse. Then I get shaky and have a headache. But other times I'm fine. And there are just times when I need caffeine, like today when I had to be a perky attorney at a bar association meeting on 2 hours of sleep and then do 2 hours of Spanish class. But I'm paying for it because I'm still wired hours later and my head is pounding.

Also the same migraine med, which I started a few months ago, causes weight gain and hunger. So now I'm having to fight against that effect, and I'm trying to lose weight, but has been impossible so far. I've cut back on what I'm eating even when I feel hungry, but it isn't doing anything.

And sadly, there are no better options. The one I switched from to this one actually can cause weight loss. But it caused my birth control shot to stop working, leading to a month long period with agonizing pain to the point I couldn't function. So that's simply not doable.

Are you taking Effexor by any chance? It isn't exactly a migraine med but some neurologists lately have decided it is and that quality of life shouldn't be a factor in their patients' treatment and a medicine that actually triggers migraines is ok if it also has the chance of cutting a few hours of of one or two headache cycles. That was my experience, anyway. I had to fight my doctor about it but he put me back on Imitrex injections since he was leaving the practice anyway and my new doctor switched me to Maxalt (sp?).

I'm trying to change my diet and so I'm using a nutrition app to track meals. I have found sugar hiding everywhere! I found 18g of sugar in 100ml of semi-skimmed milk, 23g in a slice of bread, and any processed meat sets off the app's alarms for all the no-no stuff. I hardboil a dozen eggs and eat one or two whenever I want a snack and it's the only way I've been able to manage my weight without activating my sweet tooth and ultimately putting on an extra 10lbs instead of taking it off.

No, I believe the brand name for it is Depakote. The generic I have is Valprolic Acid. The one I was on before was Topiramate.

Sweet things are my weakness. Which is hard, because I can't cut them completely. If I remove all sweet things from my house, I'll eventually be craving too much and go out somewhere and buy a bunch to binge eat. But I'm also not great at moderating and making great choices when I feel hungry.

I could have written that entire second part :(

I hope the meds are working for you and wish you luck with your weight goals!

One of my mutuals on Twitter posted a selfie hanging out with a third Twitter user, who is mutuals with them, and who also happens to be someone I knew in college and had a huge crush on

Just very jarring

I checked my go-to website for places to take dogs for walks. I want to find more places nearby because we're bored of the two we always visit. But all of the info is out of date! The dog walk site has all these places listed as allowing dogs off lead but when I go to the official site for whatever location, they all require dogs on lead at all times or dogs aren't even allowed there at all. It's so frustrating. We moved house two years ago and I have never learned this area as well as other places I've lived. I want to get out and explore more but we always end up back at the same small wood by our house.

Have you looked for a local facebook group? They can be pretty helpful for finding stuff like that.

I have but this place is weird. People call things by names I don't know and I can't find places. I think a lot of it is places being renamed when the council split (10? 20?) years ago and people still using the old names. Woolworths is still the main landmark people refer to, which of course doesn't exist anymore. It's a conscious decision on their part since it turns out Woolworths was across from the market square. Why wouldn't they use the market square as the reference point?! I live in a village outside of town, which complicates things because I don't know my way around the residential parts of town. I'll google street names and not find them and finally I just gave up trying to ask in the Facebook group :( The website I was using was great because it gave me a postcode for each place so my satnav could find it for me.

The grocery store forgot to bag my newspaper and I had to go up to a convenience store and by a paper.

At work I was showing someone from IT what was wrong with my computer and it turned out it had already been fixed by someone else. I felt stupid.

Ouch. They should have told you they fixed it!

This. That's why ticket systems, e-mail and work phones exist!

I feel like my tendency to type a LOT online lends me to arguments, because people don't even read everything I say, just jump to the conclusion that lengthiness = dissent. But I'm naturally verbose, so I don't know how to control it apart from going to the other extreme and just saying "yes" or "no" to things.

Oh hey, me too! *Reins in verbosity before it runs away.*

Thirding this.

Honestly, people who reply to a comment without reading the whole thing really piss me off. Like, here are your legitimate options: read the whole thing and then reply, or just don't reply. If my comment is tl;dr, that's FINE. Just don't reply.

I’ve spent all day feeling like I got hit by a bus. I’ve applied water, ibuprofen, and caffeine, and feel slightly less shitty, but still, blech. This heatwave needs to end and I need to lose weight because I think it’s contributing to my fatigue,, but it’s hard when I’m sore and have no energy and it’s 90+ degrees out. Also the weather forecast keeps promising rain that doesn’t materialize. I feel like it’s taunting me.

This sounds so petty but I broke my favourite necklace the other day and I'm still kicking myself over it. I don't usually get attached to material stuff but my partner bought it for me when we went to London years ago and it was made out of hematite and so beautiful. I'm clumsy as fuck so I'm sure I've dropped it before but I guess it landed wrong this time and it just shattered. :( Really dumb thing to get upset over but I was honestly in tears over it. Fff.

I understand completely. I've owned a few pieces of jewelry that had very strong emotional value for me. Right now I'm wearing a silver pegasus ring made for me by a friend I haven't seen in years and probably won't ever see again.

Thank you. :( That sounds like a beautiful ring! I hope you do see that friend again someday. I keep telling myself that I really shouldn't wear jewellery that I'm attached to sentimentally because I'm so clumsy and forgetful and it just ends in tears when I eventually break them/lose them. Rings especially. I've lost track of how many times I've taken a ring off to wash my hands in a pub or something and walked out without it.

Aw man, I know what you mean. My best friend got me a necklace in New Zealand (we live in Canada) carved out of bone in a really cool Maori traditional style, I know it's just a thing but I love it so much I don't wear it super often because if I break it I will be just miserable.

When I'm in a major rut and feeling down on myself and my cruddy life situation and haven't any confidence- THAT is when a decent-looking guy tries to pick me up at the doctor's office and forces his phone number on me and coaxes me to give him mine. Says he's going to teach me how to drive. Yeah but no.
