I think it's a weird conversation to have, especially in a work setting, but contained only to conversation, I can kind of see where your coworkers were coming from?

I don't think they're actually condoning incest, nor do I think they would if they were confronted with it IRL, but I think they were appreciating John Smith's aesthetic and the mental image of two John Smiths going at it, the same way that people enjoy selfcest fanfic or pairing characters across canons who are played by the same actor.

So I think your coworkers are a bunch of weirdos, but I also think you're thinking about it too hard because they didn't mean it literally, even though it's a gross and taboo subject to joke about.
