Curiously, it often annoys me a bit more in heroes/"good guys" than in villains - probably because the villains usually go down eventually. For villains, the "can't even win a single time but keeps coming back" gets a little grating for my tastes, too.

I think my main issue is: as soon as a character trope makes one side look too superior and by extension the opposing side kind of pathetic, dumb or OTT weak, it gets boring because things are too out of balance and it usually takes ridiculous power ups to level the field again.
