Based on 3!

What movie/show/game that you can decide if you just didn't "get it" or if it was actually a mess with cult statue?

Reality shows in general bore the shit out of me, as do competition shows like the Dance/talent things.

(Oddly, cooking-related shows I can enjoy, even if they are the competition sort. Iron Chef, Julia Childs, Yan Can, Junior chefs, bakeoffs, that sort of thing.)

I'm almost the same. I can't watch many cooking shows but if I'm going to watch a competition show it'll be that. Otherwise I hate reality TV.

Honestly? The entire Wachowski Sisters oeuvre. I think I understand *why* they have a cult status, and in theory they're the kind of movies that should appeal to me, but they just... don't. I don't know. They just strike me as kind of awkward and stilted.

I think you're right. The Wachowskis make awkward, stilted movies about things people are excited to see movies about.

Bladerunner. I've watched it three times now. Two different versions. I just don't get what people like about it other than visuals. But the awesome visuals do not outweigh the slow as fuck, sometimes nonsensical plot with meh acting to me.

this, and I don't even like some of the visuals. Dark City was a MUCH better movie.

Yes! I saw it for the first time last week. I wasn't sure what else I should have been getting out of it, but whatever it was, it wasn't there. There was no spark for me. Except a little in Daryl Hannah's scenes.

Count me in on this as well. Visually, yes, it was exceptional, especially for its time. But that's about it.

Death Note.

I've tried watching it more than once, tried reading the manga but just couldn't get into it at all. I found it slow and tedious rather than interesting.

That's how I feel about Monster. The concept is interesting and totally my thing, but the manga and anime are both so slow.

Your Name. My friends loved it and we all watched it together. It wasn't bad by any means, but I wasn't blown away like they were.

I liked it quite a bit, but I nowhere near loved it. And I find I don't have any inclination to watch it again.

Rocky Horror Picture Show. I know, I know, it's supposed to be ridiculous and I'm supposed to see it with people dancing a crowd yelling. But I did that, and I still don't really ever want to see it again.

I had friends who saw it literally hundreds of times though, so maybe it really is me.

heh. I'm one of those Rocky Horror people and my best friend doesn't like Rocky Horror AT ALL.

I'm kind of in the middle with this, I think it's fun to watch with friends and I will sing along to the songs but I don't quite get seeing it put on a pedestal as a fantastic movie. It's got some fun campy ideas but as a movie, structurally it's all over the place. My dad loves the music but hates it as a whole and won't watch it ever again.

Also Buckaroo Banzai. Which maybe isn't even a thing anymore, but it was for a while and I hated it and at least one person said I was too young to appreciate it which... wtf? It wasn't nuclear physics.

Book series, but Wheel of Time. I don't know why it didn't work for me because I don't mind long stuff with lots of description and usually stuff others consider boring I'm fine with. But I only made it a little more than halfway through the first book. It bored me to tears.

Fallout. I love the Elder Scrolls series and post-apocalyptic settings so I thought it'd be a favourite for me, but no. It's just so dull to me and I can't quite place why. I feel left out because every single gamer friend I have raves about it and I just don't get it.

The Clone Wars.

The characters seem so flat, the 'morals' are a jumbled mess, and the animation is kind of crappy, but people talk about it like it was the best cartoon ever made in the history of ever.
