Yeah, for some reason the new movies have felt the need to fuck over the old characters. So Luke, who's defining characteristics in the old trilogy were his loyalty and faith in his friends, abandons everyone when things go bad. Han, who spends three movies learning to be part of a family, also pulls a runner so he can have a "Brand New Day"-style reset. And Leia's still badass, but gets to lose everything important to her over and over again. The new movies are good movies, but the way they've treated the old characters is disappointing.

Those are some good points. I enjoyed the new movie but that's still some valid insights.
