Benevolent sexism is exactly that - refusing to hold women accountable for creepy behavior in the same way that you'd hold men, because they are more ~powerless~ or some shit.

I agree and I feel that stamping the "benevolent sexism" label on everything feels like it's ignoring this

It may be true that men have access to power that women do not. But that has nothing to do with the fact that women can be sexual predators. Women who rape and sexually harass others are RARELY taken as a serious threat. You have stories about female teachers raping elementary school students who just get suspended, and the victims are told they should've enjoyed it. Benevolent sexism allows women to get away with sex crimes and sexual harassment, and it is not any more okay than when men do it, period. It sounds an awful lot like you're arguing that because men are "advantaged" and women aren't, it's somehow less bad when women do these things.

Your benevolent sexism analogy would work only if Gal said that in reference to a kissing scene with a male actor. I don't think most people would find it creepy or in any way comparable to child rape, if a male actor said the same thing Gal said, about a kissing scene with another male actor.

Sure, because homosexuality is treated like a joke. Thus, the threat of same sex harassment isn't taken seriously either. That just makes it benevolent homophobia if anything.
