Similar characters from different fandoms

Inspired by #3.

What are some similar looking (or acting) characters from different fandoms?
kaijinscendre: (jaime and brienne)

Captain America, Jack Morrison (Soldier 76), and whatshisface from Dream Daddy.

CA and S76 more so because they are both soldiers. It is sort of nice because I can see fanart of them all and be happy. Depending on how they draw certain pairings, it can also serve as pairing art!

And this is just super particular but there is this one piece of fanart of Jaime/Brienne where every time I see it I think it is Thor making out with...some small blonde guy. Every. Time.

I always found Ed Elric (FMA) and Allen Walker (DGM) to be weirdly similar. Or rather, Allen came off as a bit of a ripoff of Ed... it actually turned me off the series at the beginning.
(also later DGM got kind of weird)

I heard (maybe baseless?) rumours that the DGM creator went a little off the rails and that's why DGM got more than a little weird.

I thought so too and, not even gonna lie, that's one of the reasons I picked up the series. I enjoy both, but yeah, DGM got weird.

Android 18 from DBZ, Akira Mado from Tokyo Ghoul, Annie Leonhardt from Attack on Titan, and Yurio from Yuri on Ice.

Marcy in Peanuts and Honey in Doonesbury are the same person.
Fred in Scooby Doo and Alan in Josie and the Pussycats are almost the same person except Alan doesn't order everybody around like an asshat.

Agreed on Marcie and Honey. It's so blatant. (I loved Peanuts as a kid, and an uncle had books of Doonesbury, so I noticed it then.)

Ferid Egan from Suikoden V and Dhurke Sahdmadhi from Ace Attorney: Spirit of Justice. They are such fucking dads and equally DILFtastic.

There was this tumblr post pointing out that Jean from Attack on Titan looks kind of like that guy from Killing Stalking and now I can't unsee it.

Captain Avery from Lethal Weapon always reminds me of Barba from L&O SVU. I think it's probably mostly the suits/fashion sense, because I don't think their personalities are always that similar.

Also, Carisi from SVU reminds me of Brian Kinney from Queer As Folk. Or maybe it's more accurate to say the actors remind me of each other. That probably sounds insane but I don't know, there's something about them that just seems similar to me.

And...it's probably gonna bug me now, but there are two characters from different shows that I was actually just thinking of the other day who remind me a lot of each other but now I can't remember who they are. Grr.

I think Kylo Ren and Loki have a lot of similarities, though I like Kylo a whole lot more.

It’s funny, I find both of them annoying and neither of them sympathetic, but I like Loki more because he appears to have a sense of humor and can occasionally be funny. Kylo Ren, so far, has shown a tendency to brood that outstrips Anakin’s while not having Anakin’s excuse of having been a child slave, and also zero sense of humor, and morally I think Kylo and Loki are both monsters without much reason to be so.

I guess it seem to me like with Kylo, he was lied to and tricked by Snoke. He's wrong, but there is a reason he believes what he does. Loki, on the other hand, doesn't have that excuse. He had decent parents and a brother he was close to. And yet he decides to go evil just because. And then he finds out he was adopted and goes more evil for no good reason. There was no one there to trick him. Sure, he meets Thanos, but that was later on after he already made the decision of his own accord.

Re: Similar characters from different fandoms

It was a bit more than just finding out he was adopted, though. It was finding out his entire life up to that point was a lie, he wasn't even the same species he'd thought he'd been, and his true species was the one his adoptive family is incredibly racist towards and perfectly happy to kill. Someone very much was there to trick him. His adoptive father, for pretty much his entire life. And if I remember right, pretty much all his villainy happened after that realisation.

I mean, I'm not saying it's much better of a reason, but it wasn't just a decision he made. It was a decision he made after a catastrophic identity crisis after finding out his species, his history and even his own body weren't what he thought they were, and his 'father' had known all along and kept it from him.

Someday, I need to polish off my fic about how Bioware games are repertory theatre built around the same small set of characters who get recycled.
