I have to walk to my neighbor's house in a few minutes here.

It's dark :c

it doesn't really matter very much either way

I kind of like it, though

Time for that seasonal depression.

I WANT MY LONG DAYS AND WARMER WEATHER BACK!

Re: Daylight Savings Time SUCKS

But that's just like. Winter.

There would still be the same number of hours in the day if they moved the clock around so that the sun rose at noon.

I want the government to pick one and commit to it, but I don't care which one.

Well, I do enjoy "the extra hour of sleep" in the mornings, and that the sun isn't blazing right into my eyes during my morning commute, but coming home in the dark isn't my thing, and there was ice on my car this morning (which I know has nothing to do with DST but since DST happens in the late fall when it gets colder, I just associate the two, and I really hate scraping ice off my car in the mornings, lol).

Idk, it's kinda cozy but I do work late most days (to about 6pm), which means it's always gonna be dark now when I'm coming home :(

Arizona is with you, we haven't observed for like 50 years.

(Anonymous) 2017-11-08 12:51 am (UTC)(link)
One of the things I actually agree with our state government on.

I loved that when I lived in AZ <3

I honestly never really notice a difference, is that weird? I mean, it's dark when I go to work (7) and still light when I come home (4) if I'm days, and dark when I go to work (10pm) and dark when I get home (6am) when I'm nights.

I like the cold and the early darkness, but my work hour changed and I barely have enough time to walk my dog when I get home. I'd rather not walk him in the dark, but we're both lazy and don't want to exercise in the morning, so that's the only downside for me.

Yeah, but in my case for a weird reason in addition to the usual reasons—I have an unexpected rooste. I ordered all hens, but roosters aren’t allowed here and the hatchery fucked up sexing him, and I don’t want him to be put down if I take him to a shelter, or eaten if I give him away. He hit puberty and started crowing a couple weeks ago, which I dealt with by waking up at 6:00 am and putting him in my bathroom to crow his head off starting at 6:30, and letting him out when he shut up. Now I have to get up at 5:00 am, which sucks. (Anyone who lives where they’re legal want a pet rooster?)

100% agree, which is why I'm glad it's over.

ETA: why...is everyone talking like it just started? It just ENDED. These are the normal hours. The weird hours are, by definition, in the summer.

(I live in a state that didn't use to have it, so it still feels Weird And Wrong when it's on)

I have never known - and I expect that I will never be able to remember - which part of the year is Daylight Savings and which is normal

I'm honestly surprised I can remember spring forward fall back

Sometimes the clocks change by an hour and things get dark at different times that's all I know

"spring forward" and "fall back" are kinda puns, so they're easy to remember!

that's fair. makes sense if you grew up with it. I'm in Indiana so we started doing it in the middle of my high school years, and I've hated it from day one. :/

It's the fact that the clocks change at all, that people really care about.

(Anonymous) 2017-11-08 04:07 am (UTC)(link)
And really, since it's the larger potion of the year (34 weeks), I'm not really sure it should be called normal when it's not in effect.

Re: Daylight Savings Time SUCKS

(Anonymous) 2017-11-08 04:17 am (UTC)(link)
I fucking hate it. It's outdated, it's unnecessary, and studies have been done (not enough imo) that the jolt to the circadian rhythm twice a year is actually bad for people.

The excuse that it's better for farmers is so outmoded it's not even funny. It doesn't serve anyone a beneficial purpose, and if the only argument is "well sometimes my kids' soccer practice runs late and it's nice to still have sun," that's not enough for me. I fucking hate that the sun sets so late in the summer. We do not need twilight at 9pm. 8 is fine. 8 is great, then maybe we could have our fireworks at 9 instead of 10. Like normal people.

Don't ever move to the western edge of a time zone, then.

Re: Daylight Savings Time SUCKS

(Anonymous) 2017-11-08 06:41 am (UTC)(link)
Do you mean daylight savings time sucks or do you mean switching back to standard time (which we just did) sucks?

On the one hand, I love setting the clocks back when daylight savings ends. I am so much better rested for the next couple of days.

On the other, I don't need the extra sunlight in the morning and would rather have it in the evening so I'm not driving home in the dark.

The best solution would be to keep daylight savings time ALL the time, so I never have to set my clocks forward.

Eh. I don't really notice, other than to double-check that stuff has been set properly. It's winter, it gets dark. It is what it is.

Amen.

The time shifts always mess with me. Every. Single. Time.

One of the reasons I always "joke" that I'm moving to Arizona once I hit retirement age. Daylight Savings can suck it.
