It might be.

(Anonymous) 2017-11-11 10:41 pm (UTC)(link)
With that logic, no one should ship anything in any ongoing canon ever, because at any moment the writers may reveal that characters who were previously thought to be unrelated are in fact related.

(Anonymous) 2017-11-11 10:44 pm (UTC)(link)
I don't have a problem with people shipping incest.

(Anonymous) 2017-11-11 10:47 pm (UTC)(link)
Then what's the point in pointing out that they might eventually be revealed to be related?

(Anonymous) 2017-11-11 10:51 pm (UTC)(link)
Because it's true. Reylo might be incest. We don't know yet. It's a possibility.

(Anonymous) 2017-11-11 10:53 pm (UTC)(link)
That doesn't explain what the point of it is, but okay.

(Anonymous) 2017-11-11 10:55 pm (UTC)(link)
I don't know what kind of point you're looking for here, to be honest.

Not a possibility. Fact.

(Anonymous) 2017-11-12 03:07 am (UTC)(link)
So what did you think of The Last Jedi?

(Anonymous) 2017-11-12 03:38 am (UTC)(link)
I listen to Daisy's interviews. Especially one of her early ones. Where she said it was "obvious."

Kathleen Kennedy has also stated that the main trilogy films are about the Skywalker Family. And Rey is at the center.

not really because there's real canon-based speculation on her parentage that makes it a possibility. it wouldn't be random like, say, Finn and Poe turning out to be related

(Anonymous) 2017-11-12 12:06 am (UTC)(link)
You could make an argument that Finn and Poe are randomly related that's roughly as convincing as Rey Skywalker/Rey Solo arguments.

[personal profile] otakugal15 2017-11-12 02:24 am (UTC)(link)
...no. No you can't.

Rey's story follows her grandfather's and Luke's with small differences, she gets the heirloom Lightsaber, and Daisy has mentioned the similarities to ESB and TFA where it comes to the parentage thing. I.E. It's obvious.

(Anonymous) 2017-11-12 05:01 am (UTC)(link)
The Star Wars protagonists have such laughably standard storylines that it's absurd to use them as proof.

(Anonymous) 2017-11-12 11:57 am (UTC)(link)
Seriously? Seriously? That's WHY they are proof.

What is with you people and not wanting her to be a Skywalker?

It's SO fucking obvious.

(Anonymous) 2017-11-12 02:28 pm (UTC)(link)
Different protagonists both embarking on the hero's journey is proof that they're related?

Who are "you people"?

(Anonymous) 2017-11-12 02:34 pm (UTC)(link)
DA

Then why make it a secret, if it's "SO fucking obvious"? Have Maz tell Rey; Rey would never have rejected her destiny with that information. And the story still could have player out the way it did.

Why is Luke "never coming back" for Rey? Why assassinate the character of Star Wars' favorite Jedi?

Ayrt

Anyone who has been paying attention to the information that's come out since TFA (and isn't a conspiracy theorist) knows that Rey's not a Skywalker or a Solo.

(Anonymous) 2017-11-11 11:22 pm (UTC)(link)
We'll see.
otakugal15: (Default)

[personal profile] otakugal15 2017-11-12 02:24 am (UTC)(link)
Then you haven't been paying attention. Because she's SO a Skywalker.

(Anonymous) 2017-11-12 05:00 am (UTC)(link)
I think it was debunked by Maz in TFA itself, but I'd be interested to hear what is left of the Rey Skywalker theory.

(Anonymous) 2017-11-12 11:55 am (UTC)(link)
Wat? Maz confirmed her as a Skywalker. SHE was thr one to mention the significance of Luke's lightsaber and who it originated from and that it now belongs to her.

Ir. Grand dad, dad , now daughter. The fuck movie were YOU watching?

(Anonymous) 2017-11-12 12:03 pm (UTC)(link)
DA

Well, technically the only actually confirmed relation is Granddad, mother, son with Kylo/Ben and Leia.

The thing is: I actually think it might have been planned as a Rey Skywalker thing. But I can totally see them going "Ooohh, you know what, let's change it because then we can pretend like it wasn't completely obvious from the start and everyone will be mad by supposedly being led astray!".

(Anonymous) 2017-11-12 05:34 pm (UTC)(link)
"Whomever you're waiting for on Jakku, they're never coming back. But there's someone who still could."

Maz separates who Rey is waiting for (her family) from the person who has "vanished" (Luke).
