Phone calls. People rarely answer or end a phone normally.

Oh man, this is a huge pet peeve! In movies, people just... hang up. Like no good-byes, just abrupt hanging up. I find it so alarming. Even extending to real life exits/departures.

Then again I come from an area where good-byes are notorious for lasting like half an hour lol

Now you're making me think of front doors. Those are my two media pet peeves. No one ever seems to shut/lock their doors when they come in/go out, and no one ever like... ends a conversation like a normal human being on the phone. They just... hang up.

when people on TV call the cops the cops always pick up the phone immediately. Last time I had to call the cops about something I was on hold for ten minutes.

I also love how people tend to just jump out of taxis with no time to actually pay the driver. That's so strange.

I actually love this trope. It wouldn't work in real life, obviously, but in fiction it just makes the scene feel a lot more active. It's like they don't have time to say goodbye because what they're doing is really important! And also, they know each other super well - so well they don't even need to do any of the usual phone pleasantries.
