That's exactly why I've shipped pairings like the kind mentioned in the secret. Best friends are my favorite thing to ship, and if a gay character happens to have a best friend of the opposite sex, there's at least a somewhat decent chance I'll ship them, because that's my favorite kind of dynamic to ship.
