I would certainly hope Patrick Bateman isn’t a variation of him.

RDJ, sure. Chris Pratt, eh.

What has Christian Bale done that is so horrible?

He yelled at a guy on set who was adjusting lighting or something. The Horror.

He yelled and threatened a guy who DARED to walk into his eyeline during a shoot:

Fuck that shit. He yelled at someone who ruined a shot that probably took hours to set up. I'd be pissed too if some fuckwit broke me out of the character I had been hyping myself up to do all day.

How do you "ruin a shot" by merely walking across someone's eyeline? Keep in mind that on set, an actor is surrounded by dozens and dozens of people doing their own job behind the camera and offscreen. Ignoring them and acting is part of an actor's job. If they have a bad day and lose it, that's understandable. Screaming and threatening to have someone fired is not.

Unless he has a history of anger-management problems or assaulting people, I'm not going to condemn him as trash for losing his temper at someone.

(Anonymous) 2017-11-27 12:14 am (UTC)(link)
He has a history of anger-management problems. His own mother once called the police on him because of his temper.

2. He didn't just get upset and say something mean. He, a rich and famous movie star, yelled at a member of the crew for nearly four straight minutes and tried to have him fired. Listen to the rant yourself:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0auwpvAU2YA

It's uncomfortable. He insults the man's abilities, yells over the man's apologies, threatens to kick his ass, calls him names and threatens to leverage his clout as a rich, famous actor to make sure the guy doesn't get work on the same movies Bale is in. Then later, Bale admits he was out of line and tries to blame it on method acting saying he was sort of in character as John Connor when he went off on a guy who was just doing his job.

I feel the same with about Charlize Theron tbh

(Anonymous) 2017-11-26 09:38 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm not a fan of his Bruce/Batman though. Ben Affleck is a lot better and I'll rank him close to Michael Keaton's Batman in terms of getting both the characters of Bruce/Batman down.

(Anonymous) 2017-11-26 10:55 pm (UTC)(link)
I concur.

I don't hate Bale's Batman/Bruce Wayne, but man, Ben Affleck swooped in & brought Batman back up to HOLYSHITTHATSAWESOME standards. Keaton is my favorite because he was my first, but Affleck is soclose.

(Anonymous) 2017-11-26 11:28 pm (UTC)(link)
I liked Bale fine as a younger Batman, but a large part of it may be that he came with the package that was the Nolan movies, and I love the first two so much, thus I love Bale in the role by extension.

Affleck is an amazing Bruce/Batman, though. I loved him in Justice League particularly. He's definitely my favorite now.

(Anonymous) 2017-11-27 04:07 am (UTC)(link)
I think Bale was a pretty good Batman, although the growly voice was a bit too much (and called attention to the lisp). I think he was a god-awful Bruce Wayne, though. Batfleck was good at both, and I regret that he didn't have better movies to work with.

I kinda gotta agree - he's never really interested me, and the few things i've seen him in haven't blown me away.

Mostly, I just think actors who choose method acting as their school of choice aren't actually very good actors.

he's a lousy actor. I particularly hate Lung Cancer Batman. The only movie he was in that I really liked was Velvet Goldmine and he played the only boring character in that whole movie.

I don't know. I think my favorite movie with him in it is Newsies so....

:)

(Anonymous) 2017-11-26 11:36 pm (UTC)(link)
imo he's ok. I like him in Equilibrium.

I'm not sure if I agree, then again the only thing I ever really liked him in was Newsies.

(Anonymous) 2017-11-27 01:06 am (UTC)(link)
I really haven't seen much of his stuff, though.

(Anonymous) 2017-11-27 01:25 am (UTC)(link)
I agree. For all his effort to fuck up his body, I've never seen him in a movie and forgot for a second that I was watching Christian Bale, Actor.

(Anonymous) 2017-11-27 03:25 am (UTC)(link)
I guess now that I think of it, you're not exactly wrong. But he will always hold a special place in my heart for being Laurie.

(Anonymous) 2017-11-27 04:09 am (UTC)(link)
He just gives off generally unpleasant vibes, even if the character he's portraying is supposed to be sympathetic. As long as he's playing a jackass, his acting is just fine. Otherwise, it's ruined by his inner jackass bleeding through.
