RDJ, sure. Chris Pratt, eh.

What has Christian Bale done that is so horrible?

He yelled at a guy on set who was adjusting lighting or something. The Horror.

He yelled and threatened a guy who DARED to walk into his eyeline during a shoot:

Fuck that shit. He yelled at someone who ruined a shot that probably took hours to set up. I'd be pissed too if some fuckwit broke me out of the character I had been hyping myself up to do all day.

How do you "ruin a shot" by merely walking across someone's eyeline? Keep in mind that on set, an actor is surrounded by dozens and dozens of people doing their own job behind the camera and offscreen. Ignoring them and acting is part of an actor's job. If they have a bad day and lose it, that's understandable. Screaming and threatening to have someone fired is not.

Exactly this.

Nah. As an actor, there are a bunch of people always on set doing their own jobs - which is exactly what that guy was doing, BTW, and getting paid a lot less than Bale was to do it. It sucks if it breaks your concentration, but I don't think it's okay for Bale to scream and threaten the man's job over it.

If I recall, the guy was in an area he should not have been in AND it was the second time he had done it that day.

I'm sorry, but I still don't think that's a good reason to scream at someone and try to get them fired. I'm disappointed there are so many people who think that's okay.

+1000

This smacks of Bale's privilege. There is no excuse for his behaviour. I don't care how many takes the lighting guy ruined.

+1 Me, too. I get that the guy working on the lights might be annoying, but the screaming was WAYYYY over the top. Is that just a transcript linked above? You probably need to hear the audio to get the full effect of the frothing, spitting rage that was going on, and it was out of line. Even Christian Bale agreed that it was out of line (once it hit the press, anyway). And threatening someone's job over it? Ugh. I'm glad he apologized, under duress or not.

Unless he has a history of anger-management problems or assaulting people, I'm not going to condemn him as trash for losing his temper at someone.

(Anonymous) 2017-11-27 12:14 am (UTC)(link)
He has a history of anger-management problems. His own mother once called the police on him because of his temper.

2. He didn't just get upset and say something mean. He, a rich and famous movie star, yelled at a member of the crew for nearly four straight minutes and tried to have him fired. Listen to the rant yourself:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0auwpvAU2YA

It's uncomfortable. He insults the man's abilities, yells over the man's apologies, threatens to kick his ass, calls him names and threatens to leverage his clout as a rich, famous actor to make sure the guy doesn't get work on the same movies Bale is in. Then later, Bale admits he was out of line and tries to blame it on method acting saying he was sort of in character as John Connor when he went off on a guy who was just doing his job.
