Is it gay to make origami flowers? I got an origami book for my birthday, and while most of it was garbage - Like "Fold paper diagonally... TaDa! You have made a pyramid!" - there was a really cool flower design that I've been practising at work with post=its. Well, my team leader - very blokey type of bloke. Thinks there's something wrong with me that I play vidya instead of going out and getting drunk every night like normal blokes, you know the type - saw this, asked what the fuck I was making, and when I told him gave me this look like "I don't remember saying I wanted an out homosexual on my team", then asked the girls on the team what they thought of men folding paper flowers.

So I gotta ask, even if you have stage 5 normie-ism, how un-macho is origami flowers. Is it time I learn to apply body glitter and learn to dance to techno music?

I don't respect the question and I refuse to answer it or recognize its validity.

The idea that there are activities that are considered "unmanly" and "gay" for men to do just pisses me off to no end. Your team leader sounds like a dumbass. (I mean, gay sex is gay, and giving birth is un-male, but if it's not a definitively gay or female act, then it's not unmanly or gay.)

But will other dumbasses possibly agree with your team leader that a man folding origami flowers is unmanly and "gay"? Yeah, they may well.

It's actually sexier when a dude is so comfortable with his sexuality (mostly this refers to heterosexual dudes since they worry the most about their sexuality) that he does 'unmacho/unmanly' things for the simple act of fun and doesn't give two peanuts what anyone else thinks. THAT is a sexy man, imo.

Not gonna lie, typing this up made me realize what it is that I find sexy about a straight guy who's willing to wear makeup even if just for a single photo. xD

Seconding this so hard. Guys who like "unmanly" things are so damn appealing to me. Which really shouldn't be a shocker. I mean, of course I like it when a guy doesn't see things associated with my gender as stupid, embarrassing, inane, or otherwise beneath him.

No, being gay has nothing to do with origami. If you're male and you don't have sex with males, or want to, you're not gay.

I assume your boss (and you, I guess) really mean "is it unmasculine?"

I wish people didn't conflate homosexuality with breaking gender stereotypes (in regards to anything other than who you have sex with). There are masculine gay guys and feminine lesbians, and feminine straight guys and masculine straight girls.

You tell that dickweed that origami was invented by the samurai, and they were metal as fuck. They'd sooner slice open their own guts than look foolish, and they appreciated a small example that the world could be delicate and beautiful.

Because when it wasn't paper cranes and kitties, it was full of rape and murder and plagues and centipede demons crawling out of the mouth of hell to eat your whole family for six generations.

Your team leader has issues. You should make origami flower crowns for everyone and go right past “gay man” to “straight woman that hangs out on tumblr who graduated from photoshopping flower crowns on her faves to giving them real ones at cons.” Okay, so it’s an outmoded meme, but so is calling random shit like origami gay. When you host an orgy at a gay bar, then maybe team leader dude would have a point.
