Shipping in general. Finding a new ship is just so good and I love it and I just wanted to remark on how much I loved it.

Me too! There's something so delightful about a new ship and wanting to talk about it, analyze it, and explore it through fanworks.

Same. I hate being one of "those people" but I can't think of a show I watch where my main reason for watching isn't shipping. There are a few shows I've been thinking of dropping lately, and for all of them, the reason is something shipping-related (half of my pairing left the show or died, a ship I hate became canon, etc).

I feel bad about it, but I can't even think of the last time I liked something based on the plot instead of some ship.

Yeah, I just love shipping man and I gotta be honest I am much more likely to stick with a show if I've got a ship I love in it. Not the only way as I like some things where I ship nothing, but to get really invested? Yeah, a ship will do that for me.

For me, it's more that a ship is always a sufficientreason to watch a show, regardless of whatever else is going on with it

Yeah, for me it's way easier to get really invested in something if there's a ship I love.

Yeah, I only ever get obsessed about a show/book/movie if there's a pairing I ship in it. I like plenty of things that don't involve any pairings I ship. But that state of "OMG I LOVE IT I LOVE IT GIVE ME FIC I NEED FIC I HAVE ALL THE FEELS HALP!!1!" is something I only ever get to when I fall hard for a ship.

Professional quality fanart and finding good fully scanlated manga.

Fanfiction for my fave femslash/yuri pairings, bonus for it being either smutty and/or a good plotty AU. Good fanart is also extremely enjoyed. =3

Finding that one rare fic trope/kink you love with a pairing you love. And then you find out it is a 80,000 word COMPLETED fic with good spelling and grammar.

That's not even rare, that's just damn near impossible. lol!

I love when someone creates what amounts to a term paper about some fannish headcanon, especially if it's one I agree with. Properly sourced, pulling information from multiple canon stuff, a well defended argument - it's the absolute best.

That rush of getting a new ship, or coming back to an old ship and seeing the fandom still thriving. It feels like irl crushing to me, idk.

Oh. And Bottom Draco. That'll always bring me joy.

Getting fic comments and kudos.
Finding well-written fic for things I like.
Pretty art.

Finding a fic that not only hits all my kinks, but is well written and in character. Also, meeting a person in real life who'll happily squee with me about fannish things. It's so much fun and makes me feel like I'm not the only weirdo out there.

-Writing and reading fic, and seeing the varied ways people can write about characters and scenes and storylines. Same goes for fanart. It's so neat to see the amount of creativity and talent that exists out there, and seeing the ways in which fans like to show their love and appreciation for their fandoms :).

-The rush of getting into a new fandom. Finding new characters and pairings to love, wanting to read all the things and figuring out what aspects you particularly like, and wanting to read/watch/listen to the thing you're a fan of over and over and over and over again :D. It's exciting.

-And on the flip side, returning to an old fandom and being able to easily slip right back into enjoying the things you love most about it. The whole "like a comfy pair of old shoes" thing, and all that. It's just nice to know that those kinds of fandoms will always be there for you to escape back into for a while if need be.

Okorafor, McGuire, and Jemisin having works I want due out in 2018.

Oh, and hearing that dad loved the book I got him for his birthday.
