Trivial life updates

I got a 3 day suspension on reddit for "inappropriate use of the report button". I didn't even know that was possible, and naturally, I disagree. I will refrain from saying what subreddit it was, but there's a high number of off topic or otherwise rule-violating posts and it's my understanding that those posts should be reported. *shrug*

Anyway, what's up with you?

An ATM swallowed my debit card. I called to see if there was any way to get it back and they said "Nah, next time the machine is serviced your card will be removed and destroyed. Better order a new one." Thanks, I guess. Counting myself lucky it didn't happen right before Christmas but it's rent day and I now have no cash.

I shoveled yesterday and it was normal. I shoveled today and I have never had my hands go so cold so fast before. I've also never shoveled so fast either since I needed to get back inside to save my hands. I wore the exact same thing both days. It's 1 degree so it's not even that cold.

I got back from 6 days 7 nights family Christmas yesterday and went to bed at 9pm last night and slept through until 10:30am alone in my bed today.

Me and Dad put together a corner cabinet Mom and Dad got me for Chistmas today. I HAVE SO MUCH STORAGE ROOM FOR MY SNACKS AND STUFF NOW! :D

We had a high of 82 degrees F today.

And it's supposed to be 81 degrees F. Now, southern Arizona has never really done really cold winters, but this is ridiculous. The average high for this time of year is about 20 degrees lower (61).

I was up half the night with a cat attacking my feet. Every attempt to take a nap today was thwarted by someone needing something. I'm tired.

One of our old regulars came in my work today (she moved out of town but came back to visit family for Christmas) so that was nice to get to catch up with her.

But then right before it was time to leave my boss mentioned a project that's going on next week but said it was going to be done completely different than she'd originally told me. I said "when we talked about this last week, you said we were going to do X instead of Y like you're saying now" and she said she had a lot on her mind and was really stressed (her husband is dealing with some health issues) and couldn't remember the original conversation but that we'd do it the original way and it was fine. I felt bad for mentioning it as soon as I'd said it though because the way we'd originally discussed makes things easier on me but potentially harder on her so I'm afraid it makes it seem like I'm taking advantage of her. She says everything's fine but it still bugs me and I wish I hadn't brought it up. :(

I still feel weird about it like 3 hours later, and I think I'm just in one of those weird headspaces I always get in when I don't get enough sleep, so I'm hoping I can get a decent night's sleep tonight and will feel better tomorrow.

In no particular order, Get Out, Thor: Ragnarok, Guardians of the Galaxy 2, Arrival, and Train to Busan.

I actually watched more than 5 movies that were released in 2017, which is frankly shocking and unprecedented, so:

1) Lady Bird - probably the best movie I saw this year. Phenomenal in every way, hilarious and emotionally rich and moving, amazing acting, amazing direction. Incredibly relatable characters, unbelievably precise sense of place. Not a perfect movie but still pretty incredible.

2) Baby Driver - probably the movie I most enjoyed watching this year. phenomenal heist movie, one of the most enjoyable action movies I've seen in a long time, great soundtrack, great direction. I'll probably never watch it again, but that's not really the movie's fault.

3) Get Out - incredibly smart movie, thrilling, almost too much horror for me to handle but not quite. Really fantastic.

4) The Last Jedi - I really loved TLJ basically from start to finish. It did have a few pacing problems, but it's the second movie in a trilogy. And that was just about the only problem that I had with it. I thought every thematic note in the movie was exactly spot-on, I really loved pretty much all the character beats, I loved the visual style. I don't understand the hate.

5) John Wick 2 - not as good as the first movie, and I really didn't care for the ending, but still a really fucking good action movie.

also, The Shape of Water and Blade Runner 2049 might have been on the list but I didn't get around to seeing them yet so.

I'm not sure I watched 5 new movies.....

1. Spiderman: Homecoming (my fav movie I watched this year, it was awesome)
2. Deadpool (I didn't like it the first time, but I watched it again and ended up with too many feels)
3. Thor: Ragnarok (I didn't like it, but I love Thor and Loki)
4. Frozen (the animation was great, the music was terrible, Anna was fun)

I can't think of a fifth movie, sorry

I am celebrating my birthday early tomorrow so my sister doesn't have to drive up on New Years day. We are just doing a cake so nothing exciting. I will be using all of my spare time (and three day weekend) to grind for boxes in Overwatch. I want that Bastion skin!
