I dunno. It shouldn't stand the test of time, but I've been hearing some buzz about it. apparently all that's required to turn a rape into a romance is to swap the genders.

I'm being bitter, I know, you could also put it in a book and market it as chick lit, but the point remains, people seem a lot less skeeved by this version of the concept.

No, Overboard sucked in the 80s, toos Not because of some high-falutin' gender politics blah blah blah. It was just plain obnoxious. Even as a kid I thought it was obnoxious. I have no idea why anyone would want to remake this film.

I liked Goldie Hawn and Kurt Russell, but I didn't like the movie at all. Even when I was a kid, the whole concept seemed kind of icky.

I liked Goldie too. Before I was old enough to have crushes I would watch any of her films. I remember liking Private Benjamin and Bird on a Wire.

Nah, man. Overboard, whatever else you think of it, is a fairly adult film - not like "Adult" adult film, but you know what I mean, it's kinda not a kids film, you know? I think it's pretty acceptable to not like it as a kid.

Overboard is JUST THAT ACCURATE of a yardstick when it comes to determining a person's inner joy factor that not liking it means my childhood was one bitter pit of depression and melancholy. I spent years working through it with a legion of therapists, but... *sobs* ... I can't escape the nightmare.

I don't know I'm kind of torn on this one. I mean, on the one hand, Anna Faris totally does deserve better. But on the other hand, she CHOSE to be in this movie. She could have read the script and passed on it. I don't feel like she is a struggling actor who needs the role so my sympathy for her is a little on the low side.
