I often see it framed as a matter of personal faith, e.g. Kitty Pryde warding off a vampire with a Star of David, or a capitalist in some movie I forget warding one off with a dollar bill.

I've heard good things about fantasy and sci-fi comics. (I've definitely seen some "unique" things when people post panels from Saga . . .)

There were anti-demon rituals long before Christianity and I'm pretty sure I've seen Jewish ones referenced. Perhaps look into those?

I would also love a series set under the ocean but it would be so expensive and it would likely still look fake. I hope Aquaman has some good underwater sequences. I think I'll have to content myself with animation.

I think I can see where you're coming from, OP. I can't think of many dark media where the protagonists aren't anti-heroes/only marginally less fucked up than everybody else.

You know, as much as I rag on George Lucas, hiring McQuarrie was one of his better moves. Unfortunately the Star Wars look and feel has been widely copied.

The current hotness seems to be teal and orange abuse, and transparent interfaces that wouldn't be remotely usable in practice except for HUD and AR applications.

I read somewhere that when you start to hate everything you make it just means that your taste has temporarily outstripped your ability. I don't know if that helps, as a message to be kinder to yourself maybe. Your writing isn't horrible you just have high standards to aim for.

I can relate. I constantly live here because I'm very unlikely to stan or crush on a celebrity if they embrace social media. My biggest fave doesn't have a single social media account. Interviews when a project is released is all I'm ever gonna get, so my excitement for a release date is at least 50% anticipation of those...

Eh. To be honest, most of the people who find themselves in such situations aren't particularly Christian, either...like the majority of people in the US, they identify as Christians but don't actually practice or attend church or know much about the religion at all. So if you believe in that stu, then it's clear that staunch belief is not required.

And Judaism also has demons, so I assume there's some means of dealing with them somehow.

Hmmm. To me, the puppetry looks great, but to modern eyes it looks very dated as a special effect because it's puppetry.

But... well, for one thing, if there were demons that were only affected by specifically Christian ritual, that would be a strong argument for the correctness of the Christian faith. So first of all, respect for being willing to stick to your guns even in the presence of hypothetical concrete evidence against it.

Second, demons and hauntings aren't a particularly Christian thing, they're just depicted in that way in those specific movies. What rituals would work would depend on what the demons or ghosts were actually like. There's every chance they would be Jewish demons, or demons not associated with any religion, or whatever.

Third - and I hesitate to say it - but demons and ghosts aren't real.
