Idk I found it kinda over-used in fanfic even though it is a canon line, there is such thing as too much, even with things I like.

But I'll grant I'd rather a canon line like that get used than a phrase that is never uttered once by any character yet is everywhere for some inexplicable reason.

That scene is one of my favorites in the 1995 series. It was the moment the two of them opened up to each other for the first time. She didn't say it meanly, she said it gently, and as a ribbing against herself as well (and also meaning *she* wasn't good with people either).

Eh, I can see why a reader might think it is overused because we read a lot of fic. But unless the writer is using it repeatedly in their fic, it just seems like a lot because we consume a lot.

Ah that is a very fair point, I tend to binge pairings I'm into for weeks/months at a time so anything that's used enough becomes over-used in short order for me.

Not sure if this will make you feel better, but in one of the largest anime discussion boards in my country, largely populated by guys, it's basically accepted as an ongoing joke that Naruto/Sasuke is canon. I actually don't know where I was going with that lol.

Also I feel like Japan seems less strict on student/teacher relationships, even if it's still frowned upon. Two movies about student/teacher relationships were released during year end last year, and it also feels like a common theme in Japanese TV dramas. Most of them actually seem like they're potraying the couple as "not that bad, just misguided and in love" too, which grosses me out but w/e, that's another story. But basically, if Naruto was female, I feel like the writers actually wouldn't be against it...which, eww.

Yeah this was my thought, too. It reads like someone (really badly) pretending to be Wako to stir shit up and/or troll him. But the writing style is all wrong and it doesn't read like one of his posts at all. (Like, Wako doesn't swear that much and afaik he ids as a feminist? So.... 1/10)
