Yeah, anime fanon Draco’s hair is platinum even in the dark, not silver, and Harry’s glasses are round, not squoval. Clearly, there is no similarity whatsoever. And also that’s totally not Hogsmeade behind them.

AYRT
"Likewise, not every part of the brain is connected to relationships."
Sure, but your frontal lobes which is the center for cognition and reasoning and impulse control is very much connected to decision making and relationships. So my argument is a valid one from any rational standpoint I can think of, and I have no idea why you would think the frontal lobes has nothing to do with relationships?

Dumbledore is such a train wreck, and he recognizes it and tries to fix it and half the time the ”fixes” make things worse. Snape spends his whole life cursing the world for doing him wrong, and even though he recognizes that he has something to do with his own problems, he never really makes an effort to understand where he went wrong or try to change for the better. They’re both tragedies, and they’re both fascinating, but I agree that Dumbledore’s the better-developed character.

Yes! All of this comment exactly! Snape is one of my top examples of "s/he doesn't have to be a good person to be a good character." Right up there with Eric Cartman from South Park, or Walter White from Breaking Bad. Just a hell of a huge mess: broken dreams, bad choices, self-imposed conflict, failure to take responsibility, failure to notice who he's burned along the way, blaming everyone but himself, falling into the mental deathtrap of prejudice/bigotry, etc. and overall very little effort to acknowledge and atone for most of it. He did do right by Harry in a pinch a few times, though. Doesn't make up for everything, or even half of it, but it is something. And that something is part of what has me hooked on Snape to this day.

That being said, I have mixed feelings about Harry naming his third son for Severus, given all that Snape never did atone for; however, I think that choice says a lot more about who Harry is than who Snape was.

Yeah, it seemed like they were both growing up so nicely! 😃

(Anonymous) 2018-02-06 04:16 pm (UTC)(link)
There's no relationship, though.

There's just a dubiously teenaged (his age is never given, and while he's in high school, the actor cast is obviously older and the character is a very 80s held-back-delinquent stereotype) asshole flirting with an older woman he's only just met in this scene (so there's no grooming, because grooming requires history) in order to get information.

Like, I agree that relationships involving age differences across that particular line are frequently exploitative on the part of the older person, but that's literally the opposite of what's happening in this specific instance.

Honestly, the biggest problem I have with the naming is that "Albus Severus Potter" is just an ugly, ugly name. Like, they could have given the kid something he can work with. Give him a decent first name and then saddle him with two middle names, or make his middle name Albeverus or something. Combined with the fact that post-war wizarding Britain probably saw an upsurge in kids named Albus to the point where it's overly common, and this poor kid is going to end up going through life as Skip or Boomer or whatever the wizard equivalent is.

No. Why can't people with ASC get on with their own lives instead of having to create icons and readings all over the shop?

I haven't even considered the likely upsurge in the name Albus at all, but that's an excellent point. And yeah, the name "Albus Severus" is as lovely as a migraine, which is part of my mixed feelings about it.

See, this is why when people are all, 'euuw, shipping stupid!" I say, hey, people have literally been shipping since there were ...people. Shakespeare shipped for God's sake.

(Anonymous) 2018-02-06 06:48 pm (UTC)(link)
Agreed. Only here for the fic, which is absolutely wonderful.

(Anonymous) 2018-02-06 06:52 pm (UTC)(link)
I could totally be down for dangerous flirting. Also Karen having a Heavy Realization and Not Being Able to Go Through With This.

Really, anything that might make Mike's parents grow a little as people or possibly care a bit about their kids would be awesome. There's obv no hope for the mister so my hopes are riding on Karen.

Alright, then. But if that's the case, then shouldn't we also raise the voting age, driving age, age of consent, and age of independence from parents to "early to mid 20s", in your opinion, or are these things somehow different and the 18-19 year old's decision-making is unaffected when it comes to these things?

Yes, this, absolutely. All of this.

But actual sex? Emphatically don't want for this series.

Right? My god it looks so comfortable, like a soft, velvety bed.

Plenty of other people have headcanons ehile'getting on with their lives'. Believe it or not having a theory doesnt keep you from living your life.

Why can't trans people get on with their own lives instead of having to create icons and readings all over fandoms?

(Oh but that's cissexist isn't it? Sounds shitty now huh you ableist prick.)

(Anonymous) 2018-02-06 11:03 pm (UTC)(link)
Not... really? I mean, trans headcanons have different issues where fandom tends to glom onto whatever character least typifies the stereotypical gender norms of whatever they present as and go, yeah. That one's obviously trans. But it's not that common yet, so your reworked "so there!" comment doesn't make sense. And the trans community doesn't decide Kylo Ren is trans because he likes sucking at life and killing people he's related to, so there's another parallel that falls flat.

Re: What has sucked for you recently?

(Anonymous) 2018-02-06 11:15 pm (UTC)(link)
Just this whole day has been nothing but suck. Get up to the screaming match of the century. Passive-aggressive verbal abuse the whole time I help clean this festering hellhole of a house to the point where I wanted to just take one of the knives I was washing while washing the dishes to myself. Had to deal with abusive shitbag sibling hurling verbal abuse after that. After all that, getting snapped at by my girlfriend while trying to help her through a game I've NEVER played...

Re: What food did you used to love but now hate?

I used to love scrambled eggs so much. But after having my gallbladder out I get sick every time I eat them so I just hate them so much now.
