Mmhmm!
(Anonymous) 2018-02-06 12:53 am (UTC)(link)Autism is more than a set of sensory issues and social deficits. People who know what to look for in autistic people can sometimes spot it in the way someone moves through their environment and interacts with it. Autistic people have this awkward yet conscious deliberateness about the motions/gestures that neurotypicals make without having to think about it. Blending in and not looking weird takes conscious effort a lot of the time.
For the record, I am autistic myself.

(Anonymous) 2018-02-06 04:44 am (UTC)(link)You know, I've never thought about it before, but I could actually see Rickman's portrayal of Snape that way. Obviously (before anyone gets on me about it) it's not the only interpretation and it wasn't Rickman's or the director's intent, but Snape in the movies does have a very, very deliberate and conscious style to his movement and speech, like he's thinking each step through in his head as he does it. That doesn't mean that what he does is necessarily logical or sensible or not weird, but I can absolutely see it as him not being able to interact with the world or with other people without consciously thinking through each step.
I don't necessarily agree with it, but if that's what the anon is talking about I can see where they're coming from.
