Re: Things You Think Are Bad But Also Love

Pompeii. Not a good movie by any stretch of the imagination. Also very fun.

A lot of B-monster movies if they involve things like volcanoes or dragons. Like the Lavalanchula movies. Fire and Ice and the other SyFy channel dragon movies.

The most recent Little Princess movie. My feelings are so conflicted. Because it is a bad adaption. The book is one of my absolute favorites. And yet I still love the movie a lot and will rewatch it frequently.

I adore that version of A Little Princess, but yeah, it's pretty different from the book. I tend to think of it as an alternate reality to get over the fact that it's not the greatest adaptation of a book I love.

The 1995 version of A Little Princess? I love that film. While it might be a "bad" adaptation in terms of the book, but I didn't really care for the classism in the book to begin with. I love the movie, I think it's beautiful, and even the melodrama works with the film. It's the first film where I took note of Alfonso Cuarón.

tl;dr I love it, and I don't think it's bad. :)

I don't think it is a bad movie, I just think it is a bad adaption. It is a good movie. I just usually dislike bad adaptions, and I have a hard time justifying to myself why it doesn't bother me as much with this one. I love it, but I don't necessarily know why I love it.
