What trends in fandom do you have positive feelings about?

The recent increase in age play fics. ಠ‿ಠ

i dont understand non-sexual ageplay fics. i dont mean this judgey, i just truly dont get the appeal. are they just de-aging fics by another name? are they wank material for ppl w/ that kink even if there's no sex in the fics proper?

Hard to say, but I feel like the quality of fanart overall has improved loads over the years, especially in anime fandoms.

Haha, I was having a hard time coming up with anything other than this but really, most of the stuff I'm into fandom for rolls into that category.

God yes. Antis are horrible bullies and just seeing their behavior to others used to upset me deeply and even put me in a temporary headspace where i hated myself. I can't imagine what being the target of one would do.

I love when people group characters into things like Harry Potter houses, DND alignment, Myers Briggs, etc. It is fun to see what people think other characters will be defined as. And going in your head, "There is no way they would be that!" or "This is exactly as it should be."

I also really enjoy the recent "every person is a combination of two The Good Place characters" sorting meme

I don't see that many people doing to lately though. I wish there was a better place for talking about it with people.

Not into Harry Potter but I do like the alignment, Myers Briggs, etc.

A/B/O, soulmates, and a few other common tropey staples.

I love the soulmate trope. I just find it heartwarming for some reason.

The current trend towards more Thor/Steve fics. I went to the tag recently, and there were more than three times the number of fics that were there the last time I looked.

The live and let live attitude of the Tolkien fandom (or at least the Tumblr part) towards interpretation and ships and such. Friendliest fandom I've been in. Not perfect, sometimes stuff crops up. But mostly, people just let everyone have their own opinions on things and agree to disagree.
