Close calls/creepy encounters

Inspired by this thread: https://www.reddit.com/r/UnresolvedMysteries/comments/6ro625/anyone_have_any_personal_close_calls_creepy/ Now archived so I can't reply, figured I'd start a thread here!

What are some creepy moments you've had, either possibly paranormal or sadly "normal" but dangerous? What about definite close calls?

I've had a few.

The first one that comes to mind is in college. My Mom dropped me off and said there was a guy following me. He kept looking at her in a weird way, then kept following me. I had my back to him, so I was oblivious. I did notice her car circling around and wonder why she'd done a detour. She told me about it later.

What made my mom stop following the guy was that a girl came up to me, and we made small talk as we walked to the next building. My mom said as soon as the girl started walking with me, the guy hurried off. The interesting thing is that from the angle the girl came, she had to have seen him, which makes me wonder if that's why she started walking with me. It strikes me as a LITTLE odd that she didn't say anything, but maybe she didn't want to freak me out?

OTOH, I do wish she had said something or that my Mom had texted me so I could've reported it to campus police. :/ Then again, if I'd known a guy was following me, I probably wouldn't have left my classroom for the rest of the day...

I had an Uber driver with a messy car. Exceedingly messy. Including brown stains I hoped were chocolate, and red stains I was... terrified were blood. I've never run into my house so fast before.

Fortunately I've never had anything like that happen with Uber since.

When I was 16 there was an older man who did nothing but stare at me on the bus, and when I got off a stop early because it was so crowded he followed after me. Thankfully mobile phones were a thing so I called my friend who lived nearby as I walked and got her to meet me at the stop I would have gotten off at and we went the long way round to her house to hopefully loose him.

He did thankfully give up when we got to the school on the main road and we went to hers to hide basically, her mum drove me back home when she got in from work because when we told her what happened she wouldn't let me go home alone. Which looking back I appreciate a lot.

That's probably my scariest real-world experience with creeps.

I've had some internet stalkers as well on WoW, including a guy who somehow figured out all my alts names despite me never telling him them(and this was before b-net was a thing so fuck knows how he figured it out). Plus the usual 'I heard you speak once on voice-chat and now I'm gonna be a creep to you in /whisper until I leave the guild', thankfully my current guild is a lot tougher on those types and we got rid of one who was harassing another girl in the guild last year.

Anything I thought was paranormal as a kid just turns out was sleep paralysis that I've had my whole life and only found out in the last 5 years that I get it.

I had a guy follow me a couple blocks until I was nearly home, who wouldn’t leave until I gave him a hug. He kept asking where I lived, so I walked around the block until he was out of sight, then sprinted and went in my yard through the alley gate.

Once I was on vacation and didn’t have a working phone. I was walking with bags of groceries and a guy walked up, grabbed my boobs, squeezed them, and walked off grinning while I stood in shock and then started screaming every expletive and insult I could think of. There was no one else around if he’d done worse.

Years ago, one of my neighbors stopped me to ask if I liked older men; I was maybe 16 and he was in his 40s. More recently I was dog-sitting and he saw me walking the dog and said “I’m gonna get a dog and teach it to hunt n****rs.” He’s white, but his niece and nephew aren’t. :-(

I saw two very nervous-acting guys carrying a bigass garbage bag onto the elevator in my apt bldg and one of them had red stuff on his clothes.

I already replied in this thread, but I just remembered—my parents knew a guy who disappeared and whose disappearance was featured on Unsolved Mysteries; they were mentioned, but not by name, in the episode, because they found his abandoned car. I always wondered if they killed him. My mom said not, but she lied about other family dirty laundry and my parents made a lot of money selling drugs for awhile. Now they’re both dead, so who knows?

I was visiting someone who was staying in a run-down cheap motel and when I left this guy I didn't know started talking to me and I think he may have thought I was a sex worker. Which is kind of funny in and of itself, but the guy was creepy as hell and I made a note to myself not to go back.

Oh man I've had a few including one bizarre one. The bizarre one was when I was living down in a small beach town and I was walking around town, when this dude comes out of his friend's (???) car and starts intently following me and insisting on walking with me. Maybe I'm just a small woman but this dude was easily towering over me and pretty strong. I whipped out my phone and pretended to check my texts and said that my parents were asking me to come home because I remembered from some crime type show hearing something about making sure a creeper or someone you're uncomfortable around knows that someone's expecting you and will probably call the cops if you don't show up. I think it was Law and Order SVU , but not sure.

But it really creeped me out. Also once this old dude (like as old as my grandpa probably) called me over to talk to me from some motel and it was really uncomfortable and I got away as soon as I could excuse myself.

Once when I was a little girl, I was riding my bike around the neighborhood when a car pulled up. The driver and only occupant was a naked man with his hand on his dick. He asked me if I knew how to get to some street I'd never heard of. I said no and he drove off. The only explanation my innocent mind could come up with was that he had forgotten to put on clothes. You know those dreams where you're inexplicably naked in public? Well, here I had just been presented with proof that it can really happen! That poor man forgot his pants. How embarrassing! I just shrugged, kept riding my bike, and never mentioned it to anyone at the time. It wasn't until I was nearly 30 that I happened to think of the encounter and went "Wait just a fucking minute... he was jacking off in front of me!" I can't help but giggle over my reaction at the time, though. The whole thing still makes me laugh.

Later, in my preteen years, I was with several friends - all boys - in a wooded area of a large park. We were wandering around the trails chatting, when we saw a man in a clearing up ahead. He was taking off his clothes until he only had on what I remember looking like a speedo, and then sort of walked in circles gesturing like he was having an argument with an invisible person. We were weirded out and quietly backed off and went to another, more open and populated part of the park. I have no idea what was up with Speedo Man - my guess would be a mental health issue - but by this time, my internal response to surprise adult male stripping had matured from "Poor man lost his pants!" to "This guy could be dangerous." However, I remember thinking "I'm the only one he'd want to attack and he wouldn't hurt me with boys around!" which was very naive on both counts.

Back when I was going through a (different) rough patch and drinking way too much, I bumped into a girl I'd had a few drunken dances/snogs with and while we were talking a friend of hers who I'd never seen before sat with us and invited us to a house party. Being drunk and careless we both just went "yeah great" and she assured me he was cool.

We get there and it's genuinely a tiny bedsit flat with a skeevy-looking older guy at the door telling us to get in, and for a "house party" it seems pretty damn dark and quiet inside, no other voices at all. We both exchange looks and start making our excuses to leave, she starts crying and panicking a little and they both try to yank us in by the arms. We just sort of grab eachother and bolt down the stairs while one of the guys (her "friend") screams threats at us. Thankfully we found a friend of hers nearby (who wasn't a creep/possible criminal) who made us tea and lent us his bed for the night.
