I really appreciate tagging in general, though - it makes stories so much easier to find and filter as a reader, and I'm thankful for anyone who does it.

Same. A few tags - in addition to a summary or instead of one - definitely can help sell me on a fic or ward me off, so I appreciate some tagging. It's also nice to be able to search for fic using tags.

It's just not necessary to go all out and tag *everything* (unless, as someone mentioned below, there's a reason for it) or use tags that are rendered unnecessary by some of your other tags, e.g. you don't need to tag for "mild peril" if you're already tagging for "extreme violence."
