I would love to know how people find time to fandom in college. Like, fuck! I was always busy with, well, college! Between school and working, I never had time for jack-fucking-shit!

I thought the same thing, but maybe OP meant some sort of secondary school or high school equivalent instead of university.

This was the case for me, with community college within walking distance (okay, a 3 mile walk, but still).

I only worked summers, so during the school year I only had classes to worry about. I had plenty of spare time.

Same. I had classes and homework but beyond that, all my time was mine to do whatever I wanted with.

But how is that different from now? I definitely have more free time now than in college because I don't have homework or tests to study for. I go to work, and when the workday ends the rest of the time is mine.

I didn't work during college semesters (only during the summers), I had a pretty light course load (12-15 hours a semester), and I was an English Lit major (SparkNotes were mostly free!), so I had a lot of time to fandom. I wrote a lot of pretty bad fanfic. I miss those days a lot.

I always had more time in college for fandom, too, and I'm not sure how, I had a full course load, worked about 10 hours a week at a part-time job, and had a far more active social life than I do now. I think part of it was that I lived in a small dorm room and ate in the dining hall, so I spent far less time on chores and errands, and while my commute to work isn't particularly long, it's still longer than my old walk across campus to class. Plus, I had not space for hobbies and the dorms didn't allow cable, but they did have ethernet, so a lot of time that I could have spent watching TV or doing something else I was spending online and there wasn't much else for me to do online back then except for fandom.

Might depend what you study and where - I had a ton of time for fandom back in the day at university, and I also worked.

I feel you, OP. I don't miss high school, but I do miss all the free time I had to be more actively involved in fandom. I especially miss RPing and writing fic.

I don't know, maybe it was because I was an English major, but I had a LOT more free time in college, even when taking 16-17 credit hours per semester. I read quickly and write exam papers quickly, and by my senior year I had maybe 2-3 classes a day, rarely anything that ran later than 4pm. Homework was manageable, and I never studied unless there was an exam coming up. I got SO MUCH reading and writing done that I really miss those days...
