Nah, the point is that they're trying to explain why exactly people make fun of her (whether they're on Fandom_Wank or not). She keeps insisting it's because of Fandom_Wank or Michela or whatever, when the truth is, she's eminently wanky on her own merits, and that's why people make fun of her.

How is the secret "her own merits?" The person who made it is obviously a member of fandom wank and bringing about a personal attack on her while, in the same metaphorical breath, is saying that it's because of what she does personally.

They're not supposed to. I'm not saying they never do, but it's not something encouraged by the community and is as a matter of fact addressed in the rules. Basically, IF members of Fandom Wank are proven to be going and trolling, they're not going to be members of Fandom Wank for much longer.

Scroll up there then. Apparently supposed members of FW are just fine with sharing locked material in posts of people they don't like.

Still, it's good to see a sane member of FW come forward. I was starting to wonder if the people here against Ataniell represented the majority mindset.

I like how people keep missing that I share flocked stuff in EMAIL AND IM. As in, not on journalfen, which would be a breach of TOS.

I'm not on fandom wank. Or did you miss the part where that's against the rules their and I'm doing this on my own time. I fully admit to being a backstabbing asshole, feel free to hate me. I just find it ridiculous that you keep blaming fandom wank for me, when I keep saying "Hi, I'm doing this for my own entertainment!"

But if she finally understood that, life would be so much more boring, because she'd stop flailing about how much fandom wank hates her. No, fandom wank doesn't hate her, in general people poke her for the entertainment value.

I never said I liked Ataniell, just that I wouldn't troll her.

I meant that I'm glad you don't hold a petty grudge against her as most people replying here from FW seem to have.

Of course we're fine with it. It makes the mass bannings when the mods crack down and point out the rules so much more amusing. Even better is when the idiots thought that they were safe because they were sharing exclusively via email.

The problem that I have with this FW "policy" is that they all troll anonymously.

Every time that I've ever been mentioned on FW, I've had to turn off anon commenting. No way of proving it's them, but finally I just left it off.

I don't know who the person that posted the comment I linked you to is. There's no way to find out or prove it.

But basically taking people, linking to their posts and pointing and laughing is GOING to lead to people going over there. It's unavoidable. You can't say, hey look at the monkey and not think someone is gonna go over there and try to play with it. Human nature.

And since FW enjoys wankers and watching people who are irritated and at the end of their rope freak out and say crazy things because of the dogpiles, they basically make this rule and say they discourage trolling, even though it wouldn't be happening if they didn't do what they do and they totally enjoy the results.

They don't "all" troll anonymously, unless by that you mean that "all" Fandom Wank members who would be inclined to troll do it anonymously. I have sympathy for someone who's being trolled or having secrets made about them, but you really have to stop acting as if FW is the cause of all problems. They enjoy watching wank, but that doesn't mean most of them participate. It's a huge community and you can't assume all the members will act the same way.

I don't see how creating the environment that fosters this behaviour by calling people's attention to things they might want to troll and reporting upon the subsequent trollage in great detail equals NOT being a significant (though not the only) cause of resulting problems.

This is that earth logic stuff they talk about on Fandom Wank. But rarely seem to use, in situations where the resulting logical conclusion might be that what they're doing is wrong. Which it is.

It's not the cause of all problems. It's got nothing to do with global warming, the war in Iraq, Hurricane Katrina or the abysmal lack of response thereto. But in terms of the poisonous social environment of internet fandom? A lot of the shit rolls downhill from there, whether you want to admit it or not. F_W is one of the places internet/fandom n00bs go to and start thinking it's cool to be nasty--because people will like you for it!

Dude, I went to a social event two years ago. It wasn't even a fannish party--it was actually the wake of a fairly close RL friend and it was held at the HQ of a religious organisation that we had both belonged to. Someone asked for my LiveJournal and I told them what it was. Across the room some complete stranger says to me, "Wow, you're really nice! Nothing at all like they say on Fandom Wank!" (Man, there's nothing like hearing some crazy shit from F_W at somebody's funeral.)

I shit you not. I know that as one of the anons in this conversation said, "you're not as famous as you think you are," and thank G-d for that, but shit like this does happen to me. And to lots of other people.

F_W is a shit-disturbing community that exists for the purpose of inflicting public humiliation on people who care "too much" about fannish stuff--and very occasionally, criminals like Victoria Bitter. But the Victoria Bitters are far outnumbered by the fairly innocent people out there who just happened to care a lot about whether two people got together on a TV show or something.

Nah, I agree with the secret. It has nothing to do with who her friends are, or that she ~told FW off~. It's that she overshares, thinks her own experiences are the world's experiences, is a LOL defensive Slytherfen and in general is just extremely wanky without taking into account the fact that she tried to tell a bunch of people who enjoy schadenfruede that they're the Cult of Mean.

Let's try this again. She did not write the secret. The secret is obviously trying to instigate wank, otherwise

crantz up there probably wouldn't have been linked to it. The fact that you think she overshares, thinks her own opinions, likes a certain character, etc. is irrelevant. The fact that the secret was made and posted and is a personal attack from someone on fandom wank is relevant.

This isn't her being wanky. This is a member of fandom wank being wanky. So what I'm not understanding here are people (assuming there's actually more than one anonymouse) saying that it's due to her own merits when it took another person posting the secret to bring about wank, albeit in a small degree.

Also, after doing some digging, the things you mentioned came around a long time ago. Why continually bring it up after all this time? Her journal is flocked, she left fandom wank as stated by her own comments, so why continue this?

The secret is pointing out why people mock her and call her wanky. I'm not saying the secret isn't wanky itself (whoever made it knew very well it would piss people off) but the secret is correct in saying that she is wanky, and the reasons why people (in and out of FW) think so are not the ones she keeps spouting. It's not because of her friends. It's not because she called FW "The Cult of Mean", although that helped. It's, well, for the reasons I and the secret-maker listed already.

What's strange is that I see people here commenting negatively about her and citing their reasons for continually going on about her due to her badmouthing the community. The secret didn't have to be made if the OP didn't want to incite this wank. Therefore it contradicts itself by stating that she's inherently wanky when the wank only started due to something else that wasn't her.

I thought the wank started when she commented to say that it related to her. Otherwise, I'd never have known.

And this is entertaining why exactly? Or by entertaining do you mean inane personal attacks being posted and people being offended? If so, you must be in every single fandom secrets argument that has one of these and from my casual perusal, there seems to be a lot of them.
