Watching any new shows?

I watched the first episode of Follow the People last night. Completely loved it. I'm rather shocked with the negative reviews, and I really hope it has enough viewers to keep airing. First new show I've gotten into in a while.

Started watching Nailed It on Netflix. It can be a bit over the top but is fun watching terrible bakers try to recreate stuff.

I just finished Everything Sucks on Netflix. Aside from the 90s nostalgia it wasn't anything special or original, but I really liked it (SPOILERS BELOW)





until Kate and Emaline hooked up. I hope the next season goes back to the issue of Emaline being a bully, which she still is as far as I'm concerned because she never did anything to make amends for spreading homophobia toward Kate around the school.

I also hope Oliver isn't completely forgotten about, because if Emaline got off too easily, he got off too harshly. Even if your friend is an asshole, if they just up and run away from home without telling anyone you should at least be a little concerned instead of saying "Well that was a dick move, good riddance."

Not new, but I started watching Girls a couple weeks ago. I got through the first season but haven't started watching the second because of work/life/etc.

Mostly watching anime instead of live action lately. I go through phases. Besides One Piece, which I'm slowly making my way through finally got to episode 700 so I'll catch up to the anime finally this year, I'm watching three anime.

I've been watching A Place Further than the Universe which has been a great show so far. Started watching Monday and am an episode a way from being caught up. I'm also watching Ancient Magus Bride and Made in Abyss. i like both but I like Made In Abyss slightly better because I think the protagonists are more likeable then they are in Ancient Magus Bride so far. I'm not far in either show though.

Both video game and tabletop game. But I really, really want a movie set in either the Warhammer or Warhammer 40k universe.

I would also love a Warcraft sequel.

Toys R Us

It was reported today that Toys R Us is most likely going to close all of its remaining US stores:

Which is sad for everyone who works there at the moment, and also for everyone with memories of shopping there as a kid. But the other thing about this is that the fundamental reason for Toys R Us' problems isn't who you think it might be. Sure, online competitors like Amazon have challenged Toys R Us, but the fundamental reason that Toys R Us is bankrupt is because of its private equity owners, who leveraged it with debt and then stripped it of its money:

So the thing to keep in mind is that the closure of Toys R Us wasn't inevitable. It was a specific result of the decisions of a handful of private equity firms who effectively stripped it and destroyed it to benefit their own bottom lines. The reason that Toys R Us will close, and all those people will lose their jobs, is a direct result of the actions of those firms. And I think that's a necessary thing to understand, especially because Toys R Us is far from the only company this has happened to.

It is time for Movie Club nominations!

Theme: For our next movie the theme is pick a movie combining TWO genres. For our purposes, we will be using this list. Include what two genres you are combining with your nomination.

Rules (subject to change):
-One nomination per person.
-Must be available for rent on Amazon or iTunes, but if it streaming on Netflix or Hulu it helps!

Nominations will be open Monday-Wednesday. Voting will be on Thursday-Friday. The winner will be announced officially on Monday*. We will discuss the movie ????*.

*I will close the poll on Friday (or early Saturday) so you can check the results if you want to see the winner before Monday.
