I can usually suspend disbelief for some of the more outlandish fic concepts, but no.

Vomiting rose petals sounds terrible.

I'm also not a fan of colorblind until you meet your true love because I don't think the writers think through how different the world would be. Color is used for so many things. Signs and labels would be completely different. It would be really damn distracting for a while and what if you were in the middle of something requiring concentration when it happened? You might have to relearn some things because before you were relying on gradation and texture.

I have the same issue! My grandfather was re-green color blind and while this didn't hinder his life much, it still affected it. One night we were traveling somewhere and he was driving and he asked me what color the traffic light was up ahead. It was only after the fact that I wondered, "Hey, how does he ever know what color the light is?" Then I figured it must be the placement (red is on top, green on bottom) but in the dark from a distance that night, he couldn't tell that.

If a large portion of the population can't distinguish colors, you can't rely on them for things like traffic lights, electrical wiring, highlighting text, or that bit in Sleepless in Seattle where she puts food in containers with different colored lids to tell you what is in them.

Also, why does no one meet their true love, start seeing color, then glance in a mirror and say "Dear God, what am I wearing? These colors look hideous on me!" (Or do clothing manufacturers just put out a bunch of drab-colored stuff for the colorblind people? So many questions!)

My dad is red-green colorblind, too, and it's led to some weird discussions about clothes and furniture (also, he really like garish orange colors which I don't really get, but maybe the yellow in them stands out in interesting ways to him). But yeah, I think the traffic light is about placement.

Yes! I figure if the world was like that they would probably have a labeling system of some sort and still terrible clashing things would happen because some people wouldn't care enough to check them every time they got dressed. But I don't know. And, yes, so many questions. I want to know what happens if people who have to deal with blood have trouble with it once they see color because I think that's a whole different experience.
