I was a police officer for four years. That's not "legit pedophilia" or child porn, in the legal, actionable sense of the words. You have a right to feel squicked and every right to personally avoid that content, but AO3 isn't doing anything criminal or even wrong to not remove content that doesn't technically breach its TOS.

Actually, there are at least three of us on FS (two former and one still active). I'm a former member of the German police force and left after four years of being part of the riot squad.

So yes, legally, the ayrt is right. Your personal moral opinions may be different, but posting underage fic on AO3 is still not illegal. Because it's fiction. No real, actual child got harmed.

Personally, to me those fics are certainly in bad taste, and I wouldn't want to read them. I also wouldn't want any overeager interviewer showing this to the real actors.

But they are properly tagged and easy to avoid, they call themselves trash, and really, taking them in any way serious would give them more interest than they deserve.

The difference between antis and the people who have squicks is that people who have squicks know that a) fiction is NOT reality and b) if there are things that trigger them, stay away from them.

Some of those people might be wanking off to fictional kids in their free time, but some writers/artists might be doing it to cope, might be creating to help someone cope, or just want to have a good time playing around with fictional characters. Some of them might even be minors. I'm not going to judge these people just because they did something I find gross, not when no one got hurt because it's all fiction.
