If you had to pick one tv show to watch/is your favorite from different genres, what would they be?

Mine:

Reality: So You Think You Can Dance (I love rewatching the earlier seasons)
Scifi: Babylon 5 slightly edges out Doctor Who
Fantasy: Legend of the Seeker
Comedy: How I Met Your Mother. Possibly the only comedy I like that lasted more than a very short time (Galavant and Powerless were great but shortlived)
Drama: Madam Secretary is more of an older people show probably, but it is honestly great.
Crime: Criminal Minds
Medical: ER
HIstorical: Spartacus. I'm shallow. Give me all the nudity.
Anime: Rurouni Kenshin. Probably the only Anime I've watched all the way through.
Action: MacGyver (original)

Reality: Great Britih Bake Off
Scifi: X-Files or Supernatural (if that counts)
Fantasy: Game of Thrones
Comedy: Parks and Rec
Drama: The Wire
Crime: Law and Order SVU
Medical: ER
Historical: Band of Brothers
Anime: Cowboy Bebop
Action: Hrm. Buffy, maybe?

Anon below you: Fistbump for GoT! And I nearly chose GBBO for my reality show. Also, perhaps I should give BoB a try - I've heard good things about it.

Band of Brothers is AMAZING! It should be on Amazon Prime, it used to be at least. A fantastic 10 hours.

You are right, it is amazing. I don't even like war movies/tv shows or military-focused things (besides fantasy/scifi stuff like Stargate). But Band of Brothers was great.

Another ER lover. I really need to rewatch this show. Guess I'll add it to my really long list of things to rewatch. This is why I never start new things. I'm always rewatching old favorites.

Game of Thrones would probably have been my second choice. Or third if Buffy is fantasy.

Ooo, if Buffy counts as action, I'd pick that. I assumed Buffy counted as fantasy.

Reality: Escape to the Country. The pictures of the countryside are so soothing. Plus I like giggling at the buyers who want a character country cottage with four bedrooms, one of them an ensuite bedroom that can take a super-king-size bed, a dining room that can seat fourteen and a kitchen the size of Mars.
Scifi: Doctor Who, classic series. I love the quarries and the wobbly sets and the Brig.
Fantasy: Game of Thrones. It's a wild ride, plus I like spotting all the historical and Shakespearean references.
Comedy: 'Allo 'Allo. It never ever fails to make me laugh.
Drama: I can't think of anything off-hand. I enjoyed The Good Wife but I can't imagine watching it repeatedly.
Crime: Lewis. I find the story-lines escape me on a regular basis so they'd be forever fresh. Plus the scenery is gorgeous.
Medical: I'm not good at medical stuff. I go all woozy. If I could stretch a point I'd watch Supervet. But that might be a reality show, idk.
Historical: Colditz. The tension and claustrophobia are amazing.
Anime: n/a
Can I add romance instead of anime? In that case, the 1995 Pride and Prejusdice.
Action: Difficult because I'm not really into action, but I suppose Tour of Duty? I learnt a lot about the Vietnam War through watching that.

I feel that I've given away both my nationality and my age with this list, but there you go.

I've started watching Classic Who since my library has some of it. I'm enjoying what I've seen.

You can add whatever category you want. I just picked those particular ones.

LOL, I just started watching Escape to the Country, too. It's even better than House Hunters, tbh... but then I love looking at the quaint cottages and odd places they come up with for that show.

Reality: Great British Bakeoff
Scifi: does MST3K count? if not, Rick and Morty
Fantasy: My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic (don't judge!)
Comedy: too many to pick one
Drama: most of the dramas I like are either elsewhere on this list or movies
Crime: CSI, either Vegas before Warrick died or New York
Medical: House, first 3 seasons only
HIstorical: Boardwalk Empire or I, Claudius
Anime: none
Action: most of the action-y shows I like also fit into the SF, crime or historical categories

Great British Bakeoff would be my second choice. I just really love watching dancing. I can't dance to save my life, but I love watching (especially latin ballroom).

This was my same issue with action: my choice was the only thing I could think of that wasn't fantasy or scifi or crime.

Fantasy: I love fantasy but I'm not sure I really have a favorite TV show that fits in this genre...

Action: Jessica Jones

Personally I consider anything superhero or supernatural or magic related to be fantasy. So I'd say Jessica Jones is fantasy. It's just dark, urban fantasy.

Good point. I was thinking... magical swords and dragons and stuff like that, but I don't really care for Game of Thrones and couldn't think of another fantasy series I enjoyed.

Reality: Storage Hunters, but it's also the only reality TV program I ever watch so it kind of wins by default.
Sci-Fi: Stargate SG-1.
Fantasy: Shadowhunters or Wynonna Earp.
Comedy: Scrubs or Brooklyn Nine Nine.
Drama: Cold Case.
Crime: Not really a genre I like much but Elementary I think.
Medical: Holby City.
Historical: Band of Brothers.
Anime: Fullmetal Alchemist.
Action: The A-Team.

Reality: Dancing with the Stars.
Sci-Fi: The Twilight Zone.
Fantasy: Does "Sleepy Hollow" count as fantasy? That's about the closest one I can think of in that genre I really watch.
Comedy: Frasier.
Drama: Bates Motel.
Crime: Criminal Minds.
Medical: The Good Doctor.
Historical: N/A
Anime: N/A, so I'll go with general cartoons instead and say it could be a tie between the old "Beetlejuice" cartoon and "Hey Arnold!"
Action: N/A
