(Anonymous) 2018-04-19 12:16 am (UTC)(link)either the source material is rife with so many plot holes, missing scenes, etc, that fandom feels the need to write fix-it fic and between-the-scenes fic to fill out what the source failed to address
or
the source material has such encouraging content that people can't help but write fic because they just want more - more of the characters, more of the setting, what have you.
So, there's a very real chance that either the books you read are so closed in that people feel satisfied, like they don't really need or want more of the characters or the setting, or it's so well-done that there's no holes to plug. Either way. I find that a lot of the books I read, that's exactly how I feel at the end. The book is done. I'm good. I don't need more of it. I'm happy with what I've got.

(Anonymous) 2018-04-19 03:09 am (UTC)(link)I feel like there's a chance older or obscure books may attract RPers but not people interested in fic or art. It's weird.
