"I am guilty because some rando is mad I killed her son. Therefore we should ALL listen to this governing body who definitely won't be evil like the last 3 we worked for. Oh, I recrutied this teenager to fight in a battle without telling his guardian. Cuz I am so guilty about killing this teen."

Go home, Coulson, you're drunk.

(Anonymous) 2018-04-22 05:27 am (UTC)(link)
For someone who's supposedly drunk, he's absolutely right.

"No, Tony, the United Nations is JUST LIKE black ops organizations paid for by the US government! So, instead of obeying the laws of foreign countries, I will swoop in and yank my boytoy away and cause horrible physical damage and property loss, for *I* am the law of the planet, and I participated in a black ops experiment paid for by the US government that gave me superpowers which mean I am judge and jury and I say he's not guilty of over a hundred murders! I do! I say it! Because I want it to be so! So screw justice for all the families and loved ones of the people murdered by my boytoy! Or the people he might accidentally murder in the next five seconds. My pain is the only pain."

(Anonymous) 2018-04-22 07:24 am (UTC)(link)
lel Tony stans reach so hard.

(Anonymous) 2018-04-22 07:34 am (UTC)(link)
I'm an old timey comics Cap fan, actually. Kirby and Lee. MCU Cap is crap. I don't even know who he is.

(Anonymous) 2018-04-22 08:47 pm (UTC)(link)
Sure you are, Tonypleb.

(Anonymous) 2018-04-22 01:06 pm (UTC)(link)
This shit again. Steve was not in a "black ops" experiment--it was a legitimate war time program, albeit a secret one. In his second movie, the government ACTUALLY DID TURN OUT TO BE CONTROLLED BY HYDRA, so he has every reason to be not okay with being legally owned by a government organization.

And Bucky is innocent. He was the tool of the murders, not the murderer. Hydra killed all of those people, not Bucky. Tony stans looove pretending Bucky was somehow a willing participant of his own decades-long torture and brainwashing when canon explicitly shows how powerless he was.

(Anonymous) 2018-04-22 01:18 pm (UTC)(link)
DA

See, I agree that Bucky definitely was an unwilling participant in this and has very little personal blame. And I'm fairly neutral on this matter because I'm not overly fond of any of these characters. But what the other side also loves to ignore is that yes, sure, Bucky may not have been directly to blame for what he did. But he still is the one to kill Tony's parents and to actually expect Tony to just get over it and say "Aw, shucks, you were brainwashed so you're totes innocent and I immediately forgive you for this!", especially right in the moment he actually learns of it... that's stupid and it would be massively OOC besides.

(Anonymous) 2018-04-22 01:24 pm (UTC)(link)
But that had no bearing on Tony's completely ooc support of the accords.

No one expects Tony to just get over it but maybe he could NOT kill the literally unarmed man.

(Anonymous) 2018-04-22 02:40 pm (UTC)(link)
Tony having an emotional response to it makes sense, sure, but it still puts him in the wrong to attack so viciously, especially because he DID know Bucky had no control over it. If I'm upset and smash a vase, I still smashed the vase and shouldn't have done it.

(Anonymous) 2018-04-22 03:44 pm (UTC)(link)
If the vase killed your parents, and was brought to you by a good friend of yours who knew it was the murder vase and didn't tell you, I'll forgive you if you break it over his head.

(Anonymous) 2018-04-22 03:58 pm (UTC)(link)

Now I want to see some crappy B-movie where an evil vase goes around killing people. Alien shape-shifter? Antique possessed by the ghost of a murderer? Gift from the devil himself?

Except it isn't a murder vase. If would be someone USING the vase to kill your parents, but you still smash the vase. Only, the vase is a person.

Do you think dogs that are tortured into fighting other dogs are the victims or the perpetrators?

You....don't know what black ops is, huh? Unless you think the Manhattan Project was Black Ops.

Also, if you should be pissed about anyone going into foreign countries without obeying laws, maybe look at the guy who built a murder robot army and used it TO GO INTO FOREIGN COUNTRIES WITH LITERALLY NO GOVERNMENT BACKING BECAUSE HE HAD A PERSONAL GRUDGE.

And continued to do that for five movies.

(Anonymous) 2018-04-22 01:43 pm (UTC)(link)
We clearly saw that Hydra had infiltrated various governments, why would the UN be any different?

"cause horrible physical damage and property loss" You mean, the people trying to murder an innocent man caused. Bucky was just hanging out and eating plums before the UN sent a murder squad after him. As someone opposed to the death penalty, I am glad someone was around to keep an innocent man from being murdered.

And what kind of justice would those families get? Bucky didn't do anything. He was a defenseless tool.

(Anonymous) 2018-04-22 02:41 pm (UTC)(link)
"Justice" would be continuing to bring down HYDRA and the rest of their super-soldier program...which is what Steve was trying to do at the airport anyway.

(Anonymous) 2018-04-22 04:26 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, I don't get why someone thinks it would be justice to kill a POW that has been tortured for over 70 years.

(Anonymous) 2018-04-22 07:07 pm (UTC)(link)
AYRT

You deciding on behalf of all those families that Hydra has infiltrated the UN to the point that justice cannot be served is the same stupidity that Steve indulged in. You are not the law. Steve is not the law. Bucky should have let himself be brought in by the task force. If he resisted, he should have been killed. From the perspective of the law, poor defenseless Bucky was under suspicion for assassinating a whole fuckton of people. That is the truth.

Without the law, we are animals. Please stop with that thinking.

(Anonymous) 2018-04-22 07:28 pm (UTC)(link)
If he resisted, he should have been killed.

Wow. Just....wow.

(Anonymous) 2018-04-22 07:49 pm (UTC)(link)
That's some argument. But what are your feelings for the twenty or thirty police officers who were injured (and possibly killed) by Bucky and Steve, or the innocent civilians driving in the tunnel, including the motorcyclist thrown from his bike *into traffic* by Bucky? Where are your deep feelings toward him? Huh? Yeah, I thought so. Wow. Just....wow.

Yeah, this person must be a huge fan of cops who shoot people trying to run away.

(Anonymous) 2018-04-22 07:50 pm (UTC)(link)
The law says that people are innocent until proven guilty. There were "shoot to kill" orders out on Bucky--it wasn't a matter of resisting arrest; they were going to kill him without due process. Later we learned he wasn't even going to get a trial or a lawyer.

Explain how executing, without fair trial, a known victim of Hydra's worst torture techniques would do anything to serve justice.

(Anonymous) 2018-04-22 08:15 pm (UTC)(link)
The no trial-no lawyer thing isn't canon, just fanon imaginings due to a flippant remark. We see him given a psychiatrist, which is a precursor to a psych eval for the trial. The shoot to kill order isn't canon either, since Sharon isn't on the task force. But regardless, Steve isn't justice. Steve is a common citizen. Justice is the task force. To argue otherwise is specious. You can't just say "I don't think my boy is going to get justice so I'm going to intervene myself." Instead, you APPROACH THE POLICE. Why didn't Steve go through freaking channels?

Because he thinks he is the law. That is the REASON the Avengers need the Accords in the first place. Q.E.D.

"Bucky should have let himself be brought in by the task force."

They were NOT going to bring him. They were going to kill him on the spot. Or did you think those shotguns were for fun? They were sent to execute him and the only reason they didn't was because they got caught in the public.
