Well, you probably have an impregnation kink, but that's OK, there are worse things

(Anonymous) 2018-05-01 11:18 pm (UTC)(link)
They literally say in the secret that the relationship between the term 'seed' and pregnancy and fertility horrify them, what're you talking about?

(Anonymous) 2018-05-01 11:18 pm (UTC)(link)
But they also find it hot.

Kinks don't have to be things that you actually like IRL.

(Anonymous) 2018-05-02 12:07 am (UTC)(link)
I don't think they find it hot, just a less cheesy word than jizz or cum.

(Anonymous) 2018-05-02 12:14 am (UTC)(link)
They find the word "seed" hot. It doesn't say anything about finding impregnation hot in fiction.

(Anonymous) 2018-05-02 12:17 am (UTC)(link)
I'm reading between the lines

(Anonymous) 2018-05-02 12:23 am (UTC)(link)
Sure it isn't wishful thinking? The secret is very specifically about the word.

(Anonymous) 2018-05-02 07:13 am (UTC)(link)
You're reading wrong. I also like the word "seed" and I have a pregnancy squick.

(Anonymous) 2018-05-02 12:36 am (UTC)(link)
The only thing I'm getting is that seed anon finds fertility hot, more than anything.

(Anonymous) 2018-05-02 12:38 am (UTC)(link)
An addendum: seed anon is the one who keeps arguing op has a kink even though they've explained already that it's a turn off. Seed anon keeps pushing it.

(Anonymous) 2018-05-02 12:41 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah. I think someone has an impregnation kink, but it's not OP...

(Anonymous) 2018-05-02 12:53 am (UTC)(link)
All we know based on the initial secret is that OP:

1) finds the word 'seed' hot
2) associates the word 'seed' with fertility and pregnancy

I don't think it was a crazy conclusion to draw, and the idea that they couldn't have an impregnation kink because they find actual pregnancy horrifying seems like it misunderstands what's going on with kink. Just because you don't want to actually be pregnant, that doesn't mean that impregnation kink can't be transgressive and hot. I feel like that's often how kink works.

Obviously, OP subsequently replied and that changes things somewhat, but that's kind of where I was coming from.

(Anonymous) 2018-05-02 12:55 am (UTC)(link)
You left out the part where the secret specifically says they find the connotations of fertility and pregnancy horrifying and that their preference for the word "seed" is in spite of that, not because of.

(Anonymous) 2018-05-02 12:58 am (UTC)(link)
No, I saw that, I just think that sometimes the conscious mind and the limbic system are pulling in opposite directions with stuff like that. This is what I was getting at with talking about how kink is frequently transgressive.

(Anonymous) 2018-05-02 02:35 am (UTC)(link)
Sure, in general. In this specific case, however... I think maybe your "reading between the lines" is not quite on target and that's got more to do with you than the OP or the secret.

OP here

(Anonymous) 2018-05-02 12:21 am (UTC)(link)
Nope. Nothing against people who choose to have children IRL but I don't like to read about it in fanfiction and definitely NOT as a kink.

Re: OP here

(Anonymous) 2018-05-02 12:26 am (UTC)(link)
tbh the fact that you find it horrifying probably *is* why the implications are hot to you in context though

risk, transgression, power, etc, that's strong hindbrain stuff

anyway personally I hate 'cum' because it feels like a childish mispelling. 'jizz' I think should be used sparingly depending on whether it's a word the character himself would use/think. 'Seed' always seems kind of silly and overwrought to me, though. I tend to use 'come,' or just semen. Or descriptions that aren't epithets, like 'the white mess on his skin' or whatever.

Re: OP here

(Anonymous) 2018-05-02 12:29 am (UTC)(link)
Uh... thanks for trying to argue that I have a kink I just told you I'm not into? Maybe I'm misunderstanding you when you say "impregnation kink", but let me be clear: people getting pregnant or risking betting pregnant is NOT something I want to read about in fic, whether in a kinky sense or even in a normal context.

I am the person who started this thread and I just want to be clear that AYRT is not me.

I do endorse their post though (even if it's not correct, it was definitely where I was coming from).

ayrt

(Anonymous) 2018-05-02 02:45 am (UTC)(link)
yeah, sorry for the confusion!

I was trying to say that the seeming contradiction between actual repulsion about pregnancy and hotness in a word vaguely connected to pregnancy makes a lot of sense in terms of the ways brains can process and eroticize our fears around sexual things

it's not the same as having a kink and definitely doesn't ""prove"" you have one or whatever, but it's probably the same underlying mental process. Way different points on the same spectrum.

Re: ayrt

(Anonymous) 2018-05-02 03:45 am (UTC)(link)
I think people are allowed to be disgusted by stuff and not have some anon on the internet insist that they're secretly into everything that horrifies them.

Fertility fetishes are okay, but please leave aside pseudoscience and pop psychology to keep accusing people of things that are disgusting to them. It's kinda rude, and not a way to gain friends. :(

Re: ayrt

NAYRT

Well. So. I agree. But I don't think our argument is about pop psychology or about insisting people are secretly into stuff they say they aren't. If the secret was just "i am horrified by pregnancy", it would be an entirely different matter.

It's specifically the fact that OP said that using "seed" as a euphemism for cum is hot. That is the specific reason that AYRT and I thought this was the case. We are not doing what you said we are doing, at all.

Re: ayrt

(Anonymous) 2018-05-02 05:28 am (UTC)(link)
I see where you're coming (lol) from because the secret does say "I find that inexplicably hot," but choosing to focus on that phrase over all means that one has removed all of its context. After all, the secret was a complaint about bad word choice in literotica, how 'cum' and 'jizz' are boner-killers but 'seed' was okay. The OP quickly states that they're not sure why (keyword: "inexplicably") 'seed' was more acceptable than 'jizz' and 'cum', but they quickly qualified that pregnancy connotations horrified them.

If I may assume, it seems that you want to clarify to OP that the reason they find 'seed' more suitable is because of a latent pregnancy fetish (despite OP having ultimate authority on that matter, and saying that they don't in the comments).

But may I present a more charitable explanation for why OP finds the use of 'seed' as better? It's simply because 'seed' is a regular word, and doesn't have any of the jokey mood that 'cum' and 'jizz' would. The word choice sounds like something that might come out from a proper printed novel.

OP swears they don't have a pregnancy fetish, and for that reason I'm willing to abort this conversation.

One note here: pregnancy kink is very much not the same as impregnation kink imo

Dude, just stop. You're trying to pass this off as rational discourse but your insistence has gone past the point of creepy.
