I really don't get pistachio ice cream. Pistachio is not sweet. it is one of the least dessert-friendly nuts. It is very much savory.`

Have you never had pistachio pudding or baklava or pistachio pound cake? If not, they are all pretty good. Are you just thinking of them salted? Some nuts do have a little more sweetness to them, but I mostly think of their flavor as nutty. Though, I guess even if I did think of them as savory, that wouldn't rule out their use in desserts for me. I've used things like pretzels, bacon, chips, and crackers in desserts. I'd say the least likely nut to be used in a dessert would probably be brazil nuts and I've seen some recipes.

Sometimes the simplest flavors are best, depending on brand. I've had strawberry ice cream and peach ice cream from local dairy companies that were better than the latest mocha chocolate chunk or caramel fudge pistachio or whatever.

Ben & Jerry's discontinued my favorite ice cream flavor though... Hazed & Confused (hazelnut, chocolate, fudge). It's what I imagine an ice cream flavor would taste like if Lindt Chocolate ever got into the ice cream business.

I also enjoy red bean ice cream, and anything coffee flavored (ha!).

Usually I go for Chocolate Chip or Mocha Chocolate Chip. The shop across the street from where I work does a great blueberry cobbler with a vanilla base, but it's only available for one month a year.

I find Ben & Jerry's to be overrated lately, maybe because the local shops are just that good. Maybe if your other options are Baskin Robbins, Dairy Queen, and Bryers.

I'm all about cotton candy, bubblegum and any flavor of sherbet when it comes to the selection at ice cream shops, but when it comes to stuff you buy at the grocery store, I tend to cycle through favorites. Right now it's Blue Bell Ultimate Neapolitan. It has huge chunks of actual strawberries in it!

I love banana, chocolate, coconut with pieces of dhredded coconut in it, almond, pistachio. Basically anything that isn't fake amd gross, like cotton candy or bubblegum.
