139. The thing about Whedon is that he's not about the plot, he's about the characters. Because admittedly, his plots are nothing special and it's not full of great twists and surprises. I mean, they're good plots, but they're not outstanding and they're not what defines his work. It is, however, full of great characters and that's why I personally don't mind the predictable character deaths. The deaths and tragedies open up some fantastic doors to character development and I have to say, Whedon has done some of the best character arcs I've seen (see: Wesley).

But Whedon is Whedon, and his M.O. is geared towards a specific audience mindset, I find. You either love him or hate him/don't get what the buzz is all about.

The thing is, my ex-boyfriend largely turned off the Erik-crushing when he decided to act like him to "thrill" me. It got old, and then it got downright scary when he started stalking me. I'm now with a great-looking guy who's an absolute sweetheart on top of it all, so I was pretty unprepared to find myself wanting to mack on yet another disfigured guy with serious mental issues.
