That's funny . . . I'm very active in the Tin Man fandom, have written for it extensively (and won awards for it), and I moderate several Tin Man communities. I don't remember ever seeing you or any of the batshit fans you're talking about. In fact, most of us are quite peaceful and welcoming, if a bit snarky when we're feeling particularly frisky.

103. Me too, actually. As a kid, watching the animated series, I hated both of them- he was the embodiment of terror, and she was a drooling groupie. I didn't understand either of them. After seeing TDK, I still don't get the Joker- and how could one, really?- but I do understand her, a little bit. 140. I'm with you there. My toe-dip into the X-Files fandom archives made me glad I watched the show alone or with my brother and didn't have internet access until the late '90s. Lately I've been thinking a lot about how immersing myself into fandom has actually put me off of shows I used to love because of all the endless nitpicking and over-scrutinizing that goes on (which I've been guilty of). Not that sharing your passion can't often be enjoyable, but there's a thin line between invested and over-invested for me, and over-invested ends up being no fun at all. Fandom = a double-edged sword. Also, Forever Knight FTW.

107. You know, I would LIKE to hear a creator say that... and I'm pretty sure they have, once in a while. I mean, Alan Moore was stumped that people ended up loving his bloody and brutal tales and characters when it wasn't his intention, so yes, sometimes I am certain that a creator ITNENDED for something to make people feel bad and get's surprised when everyone loves it. Because people derive different sensations from different opinions, and in the end a creator's will and opinion really may BE the opposite of what a reader get's from the creator's work. They really DID like the ending that you hated. It happens.
