The batshit-to-sane-person ratio is actually pretty decent once you're in it. Unless I'm part of the problem, in which case I plead the fifth.

Truth. About one in 20 of these "secrets" is actually shocking/horrifying/disturbing enough to be kept secret. The rest are clearly by people who are just too scared to share OMG DIFFERING OPINIONS in fandom. Grow. Up.

Re: 128

(Anonymous) 2008-07-28 11:35 pm (UTC)(link)
Spoken like someone who has never had a differing opinion in a closeminded, wank-prone fandom. Not everyone enjoys being ripped to shreds just because they happen to be in the minority. Get over yourself.

175: This. Clearly a minority opinion, but I have never, ever been able to understand the mindset of "OMGZ THE MORE TOTALLY FUCKED UP AND TWISTED AND UNHEALTHY IT IS, THE MORE AWESOME IT IS!!!1" Not to say that all ships should be conflict-free and happy sunshine and bunnies and froliking through the daisies all the time, 'cause that would just be boring. Give me a middle ground between the two any day. You can have angst and conflict in a ship without it necessarily being fucked up beyond belief.

seriously. i just wrote an entry about that in my journal (the odds!). i admit i don't know what "mass effect" is, but i get the exact same feeling simply when looking at the sky at night - what gets me in particular is the fact that i will never live to see and know how the universe really works and what it looks like from a non-terrestrial point of view. but whatever, we've got to come to terms with that sooner or later, there's nothing to do about it, as sad as it can be :\

102 LOL! That's awesome!
110 Fuck yes.
112 I feel that way about my livejournal in general, especially when I'm in a depressed state. Seeing the lack of comments makes me wonder why I even have a blog.
124 I secretly wish that for myself sometimes (whenever anyone draws my characters, no matter how good of a job they do, it makes me feel so much better about myself).
128 Well, you have no idea how fandom is. Especially in a fandom dominated by men, or a hive-minded one, as mine is. Everyone in my fandom HAS to like the same fucking things or they are pretty much ostracized, which is ridiculous.
157 Uhm, I say "like" because of Shirley the Loon on Tiny Toons, which I watched every afternoon in elemntary school. I think that definitely counts as more lame.
159 Are you one of those people who always thinks that older = better, no matter what? I like both the tv Joker and Heath's Joker. Is it possible to like two different interpretations of the same character? One is from a campier version of Batman, one is a more serious and dark version of Batman.
162 LOL, necro!
171 Just when I think F!S has outdone itself...
172 Dude, I just watch all of the Nolan Batman movies imagining Bruce Wayne is actually Patrick Bateman. It makes it all more entertaining.

Yay Dr Horrible-

187: For me, it was the moment at the end of Act II right before he breaks into "Brand New Day," when he just gets that smirk on his face.

Like the first of an angry Captain Hammer. For srs.

181: FUCK YES. Well, I can't say that with all certainty, I only read the first one. But I absolutely loved it and thank you for reminding me about it~

160: The last bit makes this secret. I chuckled.

142: Well, it's your choice, of course, but... it's really amazingly done. And I love Felicia Day ;_; I can understand why you'd rather not watch it, but you *are* missing out on greatness.

139: I just thought it was a really well-done ending despite being heartbreaking. Don't get me wrong, I would have loved a happy ending but it was... it was just a GOOD ending XD;

131: Code Geass fandom is just batshit from what I can tell either way. I wouldn't worry too much about it.

So, Shirley : Code Geass :: Louise : Gundam 00? From what I understand?

124: I kind of agree. I can't help but think that if I ever had a fandom I'd just get a kick out of people cosplaying my stuff XD; I guess to a point there was the Gurren Lagann Double K thing, but that was Zongcai's designs, not mine.

101: I met him in line at a deli in Hoboken. We said like two sentences to each other but he was a really cool guy.

Oh, and 106

[identity profile] cftfic.livejournal.com 2008-07-28 11:41 pm (UTC)(link)
You know, I do understand that a lot of girls like pretty boys, and there are a lot of them in anime/manga/vidyagaems. And that's fine. (God knows I'm still gay for Stupid Sexy Lockon). And a lot of girls like yaoi/BL - that's totally fine too.

But I will really never understand the appeal of yaoi with "boys" that are really just flat-chested girls with a penis. In look, in... well, I was going to say in mannerisms but that's a touchy subject, but they act stereotypically 'feminine,' let's just say. It just seems like it's going against the entire *point* of guy/guy relationships. The only thing that indicates that they're actually male is dialogue / wang shots (if any).

If you like two guys in a relationship? Hey, that's great! Good for you. But shouldn't they be actually recognizable as guys? >_> (Hell, they can be bishounen pretty-boys, but there's... a sort of line where they stop being very beautiful males and become flat girls with dicks XD;)

125. Every time I see a It's Always Sunny secret, it makes me giggly and I have to go watch an episode. It makes my day, seriously. Thanks for that.

159. I thought Heath did a good job and I loved Jack Nicholson (I still think he's the best, hands down), so I don't agree with you on that point. But, I have a problem with every person who has played Batman since Adam West. They just don't compare. Christian Bale is pathetic and one of the main reasons I still didn't find the new Batman movie to be that great (that and the dialogue). I know the original series was cheesy but it's what I knew first and anyone else's voice coming from the Batman suit is just wrong.

[identity profile] omorka.livejournal.com 2008-07-29 04:53 am (UTC)(link)
Heh. I never watched the old show, so for me Michael Keaton was my first on-screen Batman (I'd read the comics, of course). Ever since then, every new actor in the role has inspired but one reaction in me: "Wrong chin!"

Not quite the same as "wrong voice," but close enough. :-)

Except if you are one of those twats who goes to see anime movies in theaters and then squeals loudly EVERY TIME YOUR FAVORITE CHARACTER IS ON THE SCREEN. Even after I tell you to please be quiet. That's just rude, especially when some of us drive quite a distance to see them. :D
