any adult writing a sexual scene with a teen (even a fake one) means that they are thinking about a teen (even a fake one) in a sexual way. to me it means they never fully matured mentally after high school and that's kind of sad, but also gross.

Wait... so... authors who predominately write whatever genre teen fiction is called... are thinking about their characters in a sexual way and are horrible immature people?

I think that's a bit of a leap...

read the comment more closely and try again.

I'm not sure what you think I misinterpreted here? Anon I replied to very clearly said that they think that any adult writing a sexual scene involving a teen EVEN A FAKE ONE which is what characters are, is immature and weird and gross. Ergo, authors who write young adult fiction where teens do sexual things (fake teens), are immature and weird and gross because they are OBVIOUSLY thinking about those characters in a sexual manner, which is a stupid fucking leap.

NAYRT, but wasn’t this line of “logic” what lead to all the “John Green is a pedophile” idiocy?

(Anonymous) 2018-06-09 05:27 pm (UTC)(link)
This statement is such an illogical oversimplification that it doesn't deserve debate, but for the record, your condescension and disgust are not a good way of persuading anyone to your opinion.

(Anonymous) 2018-06-10 03:39 am (UTC)(link)
i honestly don’t have to persuade anyone. outside the internet, most people would find adults sexualizing teenagers to be disgusting.

Outside the internet..is called Real Life and yes, people finding adults *in real life* sexualizing teenagers and adults having sexual relationships with teenagers *in real life* is creepy, probably illegal and disgusting.

However, none of that applies to Shuri who is not *real* AND doesn't exist *in real life*. Also known as on the internet which is NOT 'real life'.

LOL, no. You really have no clue how fantasy works, do you?

(Anonymous) 2018-06-09 08:03 pm (UTC)(link)
Perhaps wait til you hit 20 and then comment again. A lot of adults are projecting themselves into one of those roles, because bodies age but the brain often has a hard time catching up. Plenty of 50 year olds still feel 18 on the inside and have no idea what happened.

(Anonymous) 2018-06-10 03:38 am (UTC)(link)
that’s what i mean. it’s so sad if a 50 year old still feels 18.

(Anonymous) 2018-06-11 12:13 am (UTC)(link)
Actually, it means you are wrong. What about "being able to remember when they themselves were a teen"? Not all adult writers identify with the adult in the fic.
