Most of the people who defend those ships don't seem like they're actually interested in making a distinction between aged-up fics and non-aged-up fics either, though. So this seems like a red herring - both sides of the underage-shipping-debate have extreme positions, not just the people who object to underage fic.

To be clear, I don't particularly care about this debate and I don't object to Shuri/Ross shipping on the grounds of age (I do object to it on the grounds that I think it's boring, but that's obviously not quite the same thing). I think it's an incredibly stupid debate, on both sides.

What do those antis say about book series which follows a character from childhood and into they become adults and form relationships? With that logic they must also think the authors are pedophiles? Or?

Think about it- all adults was once children. So shipping anyone, ever, must mean hidden pedophilia...

It's like the opposite of when some people didn't like the idea of Dumbledore having been in a relationship years before because "Ew, he's old!"

Yes, the antis do think it's pedophilia. This was the case for Harry Potter and Warcraft, where characters who used to be children at the start of the series are now adults. I still saw people calling people pedophiles for shipping them, and comparing them to creeps having countdowns to child celebrity's 18th birthday.
