I enjoyed it and thought that it was perfectly pleasant to watch. I liked seeing something else happening in the Star Wars universe that was more than just a war in the stars, and the acting was way better than everyone acted like it was.

I think I get what OP means, though. There were so many rumors about this and that and everything being just TERRIBLE that I think a lot of people were put off.
