I always think shows ending on cliffhangers is mildly embarrassing because it always seems like the showrunners were too sure of themselves and the chances their show had for renewal. It always seems a bit arrogant.

I used to be in a fandom where the showrunners KNEW they weren't getting another season, and still chose to leave it on a cliffhanger. And the whole last episode was a slap in the face to boot. I hated it and it just made them look like dicks.
