I don't think the TFA stuff weakens their bond. It makes their relationship a lot more complex. But I still got the sense that they mattered to each other immensely, that they loved each other deeply, and cared about each other, and all the other stuff like that.

And the Qi'ra stuff, I don't see the argument at all. Loving one person doesn't weaken your bond with someone else. Don't see where that's coming from.
