Damn it. Damn it. Why couldn't he just wait. He could wait right up to the point where Scalia died and then Republicans would be forced to eat crow. Or he could wait until Trump was gone. Why is he leaving now? I really thought he was smarter than that.

Well, he voted with the majority on Trump V Hawaii (which is shameful and he and everyone else who voted for that piece of shit opinion should be haunted by it until they die), so clearly he doesn't fundamentally object to the court going in a conservative direction.

I kind of wonder whether Roberts has maybe given him some reason to think that Obergfell won't be overturned, because that's the only thing I can see Kennedy being willing to stay on for.

Would anyone trust that any progressive precedent won’t be ignored or overturned under this administration, though?
