I mean, I kind of agree? No offense to you specifically, but I always roll my eyes or get confused about logged-in users. I can’t tell if they are trying to prove they’re cooler or more confident than everyone else or want to develop some kind of reputation as a regular/leader for being “active” and “present” on different posts, or if they just don’t understand the point of this site. I think at least SOME do think their comments should carry more weight because of their ~bravery~. (To me, for the reasons already stated, they carry less...)

Maybe they just like getting email notifications of replies to their comments so they don't have to keep checking the page? I assume that's one benefit of being logged in :)

I’m often just too lazy to log out, but initially I was hoping to find others with personal blogs I might want to follow (my Reading Page moves pretty slowly). (Plus I really, really like being able to use different icons in an attempt to convey tone)

I was anonymous for idk eight years or so before I finally got around to making an account. Now i don't post stuff anonymously at all, even if it's controversial. It's nice to have a name rather than being one of the invisible masses, and it's nice to be able to track threads and stuff too.

I think F!S needs it's anon users, but I think it also needs named ones too. For one thing, named and recognizable users help keep communities going. Note how often we get threads of people commenting how they miss seeing xyz users around, and how many people remember "regular" F!S users years and years after they left. People with names attached to them make a place feel alive, unlike a bunch of anons shouting into the void. They help make it feel like a community. This is especially true for communities where a large portion of the content is just general chatter and personal crap, like F!S where half or more of the comments any given day are in the GC.

Agree with this, and I've always been anonymous here. There's something about seeing a familiar name, even if it's from that someone you had a minor disagreement with. I've never cared about a logged in user's comment more than any other, but pretty often I see longer conversations with one user logged in, likely getting notifications so they can actually answer. Without those, this place could get cold(er) fast.
