...pretty sure that goes far beyond the accepted definition of furry and into bestiality when it involves actual real life dogs. At least as far as I know

OP - yep, 100%. That's why it threw me for such a loop and left such an impact on me. Just thinking about it makes me sick.

I find domestic dog furries to be kind of funny regardless. 5 million huskies, a bunch of GSDs, 0 Malteses

Everybody wanna be a gangsta

Yeah, a little variety every now and then would be nice. That's why, if I were to choose a domestic dog fursona, it'd be a dachshund, partially because I've had those stubborn, needy, blanket-hogging, smelly little weasel/dog hybrids all my life and have developed a sort of Stockholm Syndrome-based affection towards them, and partially because I too am a stubborn jerk with short legs and back problems who somehow takes up the whole bed despite my ridiculously short stature.

This is the best reply I've ever seen and I want to thank you for it. XD

I feel like arguing this point. If you’re going for animal archetypes as a representation of different types of people, a sexy poodle-boy or a sexy husky-girl seem like they create impressions that a wolf wouldn’t. I don’t think that’s necessarily about wanting to have sex with a poodle. It’s more about wanting to have sex with a boy who is poodle-like.

(I do think there’s a blurry line between furry fiction and bestiality fiction, but it’s farther out than you’re setting it.)

I think OP is was disturbed by someone's literal pet dog, not Poodle stereotypes

This comment is disgusting and I feel gross

[personal profile] feotakahari 2018-07-14 08:37 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, but someone’s literal pet dog isn’t a fursona. If you want to be grossed out by the thought of people who want to have sex with dogs, it’s not like there’s a shortage of furries who write porn about having sex with literal, non-anthropomorphic dogs. (Search the “transformation” tag on FurAffinity sometime.)

I was just pointing out OP didn't actually state any bias against particular domestic breeds or stereotypes, only that the reason they stated involved a real dog, so when you say you're arguing a point I dunno what point you're arguing with OP

Like, it didn't sound like they thought every ShihTzugirl wants to fuck a ShihTzu, just that seeing one reminds them of that one weird RL zoophile guy

Minor anecdote: Not a furry, but I'm well-aware of huskies' popularity in the furry fandom. A remember there was a period of time that whenever a furry would mention their dog, it was almost guaranteed to be a husky. I used to feel somewhat strange about those folks who would just get a (very hyper, high-maintenance, allergy-inducing) dog just for the sake of matching up with their fursona, but now I'm also concerned about the possibility that some folks may have also chose them because they were the "sexiest". God.

Thank you however for making this secret. It's nice to see a furry secret because it's hardly ever talked about (at least for me), and I think it's neat knowing what's up.

Yeah, I'm a furry and it is kind of weird that people in the fandom would get huskies IRL for that reason. I get pretty angry in general when people will get pets they can't take care of based on fictional characters (like how a lot of parents got their kids dalmatians when that 101 Dalmatians remake came out and then abandoned them when they realized they aren't very kid-friendly dogs), but getting a high-maintenance pet because of "sexy" art online is just a whole different level of uncomfortable.

Well, yeah, I can see how that would be fairly disturbing, since they're talking about an actual animal that's...basically in their reach.

I always thought the anthropomorphic wolves and horses and birds and cats were way cooler than domestic dogs. I guess because dogs are just so...needy, they kinda squick me.

(Anonymous) 2018-07-15 04:28 am (UTC)(link)
I feel the same way about cats-- if it's about the level of sexy as Miss Kitty from Feivel Goes West or lower, like, okay, fine, but if it gets beyond that or into nsfw territory, it can squick me out, and feral stuff just severely gets to me.

Like it's not just that then it gets too much into questionable 'I think my pet is sexy' waters but like... at least a husky resembles a wolf. Cats evolved to make us think of babies in order to get us to feed them so it's just double squick to me.

I'm a furry, I draw furry porn, no species weirds me out. But I'm not sure if I should feel weird about drawing clean, G-rated art of anthro characters based on my real pets (not dogs, incidentally), because to some people, making them humanoid is inherently "sexualizing" even though I made the drawings as non-sexual as possible. I just wanted to draw something cute and innocent based on my pets, I don't think there's any need to consider that creepy.

But I understand the dog thing, even though I don't mind porn of dog characters in general. I do get uncomfortable when I see porn of any furry character that looks like any of my pets (past or present) even though I know the artist intended them to be OCs and didn't base them on any real animal.
