Which "inspirational" books (or movies, etc.) have you found uninspiring?

Every promprosal, to be honest. It always looks like kids bragging that they helped a "special needs" kid, how awesome are they?

I just can't help but wonder what happened when they got to prom and their crush asked them to dance all night. Even if they mean well (despite the fanfare), did they really stick to it?

A Beautiful Mind is a movie I used to love, but after I found out that Nash was an abusive asshole who refused to take his meds, it kind of spoiled that movie for me.

It's A Wonderful Life. ugh. I don't particularly enjoy some old movie telling me that being a single woman is some sort of fate worse than death. (also, it's so sickeningly sweet!)
the bible. I'm a hardcore atheist and there is some messed up stuff in there if you really read it.

Yes to It's a Wonderful Life. I hate that movie so much.

It's A Wonderful Life is a weird one because the story is so completely grim, all the way up until the total deus ex machina ending that's the only thing anyone remembers

weird, weird movie

I remember that Donna Reed was naked in a bush.

I like that movie as a movie, but I agree that part is offensive. The whole World Without George is also just kind of silly. I mean, it's narratively necessary to make George see that he has had a positive impact on many people, so you can't say "Well, there are many possible outcomes to you not being born and some of them are bad but others are just fine..." Still, was not being happily married at all really Mary's only/most likely fate without George? Was the town destined to turn into a pit of vice without George instead of people just moving away?

I find almost none of them inspiring, tbh

Anything that's marketed as "inspiring" usually either makes me feel bored or inferior.

Life of Pi, which spoils its story about faith with apologetics against a ridiculous straw-atheism.
