Fangirls have already been wearing the Doctor's pants. Cross-dressing and Fem!Doctor cosplay have been huge in Doctor Who fandom since the new show began.

There's always general excitement, yeah. But I usually see it as being excited about seeing what comes of the new Doctor or excitement about the casting, not necessarily "ONG I love the new Doctor already!!"

I loved the Tenth Doctor as soon as he started hopping and the Twelfth the instant Capaldi was cast, so it's nothing new for me to love Thirteen already. She looks like so much fun!

(I took marginally longer to love Eleven. He had to walk into a hay bale first.)

I mean, at this point there have been twelve Doctors and I have loved all of them. I figure it makes statistical sense to get an early start.

Frankly, I love that there exists a fandom that is so conditioned to change that they consistently embrace new things rather than throwing temper tantrums about how their childhoods are ruined.

She's popular because she's bi and femslashers are thirsty to ship her with women. Personality and actual content isn't needed in fandom these days. They'll claim any random two characters who look at each other for two seconds are "canon lesbians" after all.

And before I get somebody whining at me: I'm an old queer. I've been femslashing for longer than most of the new tumblr crowd has been around. I've been around long enough to actually remember when people cared about personality as opposed to stripping down everything that made characters interesting to another uwu coffee shooop auuuuuu uwu with interchangeable fanon made seme/uke personalities which do not resemble the characters in the slightest.
