The whole Ruby Rose thing confuses the fuck out of me. They're mad because someone isn't lesbian enough to play a lesbian character? What in the actual fuck?

All the posts I've seen rag on her lack of acting ability and nothing else. But considering I have no idea who she is, I can't say whether that's a genuine complaint or not. Plus I find that some peoples' acting does shift depending on the piece they're acting in so I really do try not to judge a new piece of work on something else I might have seen them in.

I saw her in The Meg on Saturday (she had a supporting part) and she wasn't bad, though I really distracted by how they decided to style her hair (it was dyed black and gelled to stick out).

I read a news article saying people were complaining that she's not Jewish (which the character is) and not a lesbian. I hadn't heard of Ruby Rose before, but I'm getting the impression she is not straight? I don't know.

The only semi-convincing argument that she's not a lesbian is the fact that she, while preferring the feminine pronoun, identifies as genderfluid.

She has apparently identified as lesbian since she was 12, and, at least as far as I can tell, has never publicly been involved with a man.

Ah, so they're TERFs.

Now there's a reach. The people frothing at the mouth about how Ruby Rose doesn't have enough oppression points to play see themselves as the most liberalest of liberals.
