She’s an actual actress, dumbass. She’s already had lead roles in two shows.

It's not like she is a great actress but neither was her mother in general. Carrie got a couple of really great parts that fit her perfectly. She was incredible in those roles. Hopefully Billie will get the same chance one day. But Billies work on those two shows (Scream Queens and AHS) was average to forgettable at best.

Carrie Fisher was a washed out star who who hadn’t done anything relevant in the industry until returning to SW for fanboy nostalgia reasons. Even Hamill had more of a career doing voice over work for cartoons. It’s not like Will Smith using his clout and getting his kids work.

At least her acting is much better than Asia Argento's (worst Christine in Phantom ever. Then again, that adaptation of Phantom is well-known to be crap), Jennifer Aniston and Sofia Coppola, as far as children of famous directors and actors go.

The only exceptions to the rule are Angelica Huston, Laura Dern, and Kate Hudson.

It's not like her role is super huge (it would be a challenge for a casual fan to even remember her character's name, tbh). If she had been cast as Rey, sure, cry nepotism. This? No worse than thousands of other children of actors /models/athletes getting that extra hand up because they have famous parents.
